Help with coilovers

Hey guys, anyone know where I can rent/borrow a spring compressor
Or a shop to install my coilovers.
Munkywurks quoted me 275 for the install. :(

You dont need a spring compressor to install coilovers...

What coilovers do you have?

vendiola7 11-05-2010 11:54 PM

Tein basics, do the stock fronts just drop out?

jdm-v35 11-05-2010 11:59 PM

they dont just "drop out" they need some persuasion but yes you dont need a spring compressor for it. and the coilover should easily slip in.

Thanks guys. I've heard different from other members. I'll just
Do it myself and save money.

jdm-v35 11-06-2010 01:03 AM

yea its not that bad. can be done in about 2 hrs. rears are easy. maybe 40 min. squeezing the stock fronts out is what takes the longest.

ooo finally putting in my basics!! just have a strong friend compress the spring and hold the piston while you wrench out the nut. haha

i havent gotten around to it yet but i plan on buying a spring compressor just cuz it comes in handy.. its kinda cheap like 50-75 bucks

Bring your car to kingbabys house or "rod" and I'll definitely come

You dont need a spring compressor to remove the front strut assembly, ive taken it out whole. Did it to my car and a friends Z.

put in tein flexs w/o spring compressor, never had one myself either. fronts disassemble one side of upper control arm and pull down, should help greatly. hope install goes well!
