Droppin with Stock 19's
do you guys think its worth it to drop our car (more then an 1") on stock 19's?
i've calulated that it would cost me about 14-1500 just for part and shipping. shocks, springs, front a-arms, rear camber arms and toe bolts. i plan on installing myself and add on another 100 or so for an alignment. now 1500 is 75% of my life savings (i'm still young and working) is it worth it? |
You've exactly just like my plan six months ago self installed all but I spent 2600 and I'm still not complete with swaybars.
If it's 75% of your savings I'd say no... definately better to have a little nest egg just in case something happens. Hell even keeping a little nest egg for repairs/consumables is good... Tires alone will run you around 800+

no need camber parts.
True; just tein htech springs.
but i want a DROOOPP!
sell you my s-techs for cheap.
go for it! thats what being young is for haha
tein s-tech.....................~$200
labor.............................~$120 a dropped G?.................priceless you can have a nice drop for a little over $300; so you shouldn't put that much of a dent in your "life savings." |
I definatley would just get some springs for a subtle drop and then get some wheel spacers for a nice flush look.
hahah use industrial strength zip ties on your springs! :D j/k... :D
The G looks soo much better with a drop and I'd do it in a heart beat, but yet again my driveway strikes back with a vengance. DAMN the Engineer/Architect that designed Hawaii Kai driveways!!! DAMN U!!!! :D |
but i'm afraid if i cheap out in the drop it will hurt me later, in the long run. i also want to improve performance. i don't want to blow my shocks and i don't want to have terrible neg camber. cuz that will cost choke in tires later.
i used the s-tech for a while with no shock probs. you may want to just put em in until you can save up for coilovers. as long as you get alignment, the treadwear shouldn't be too bad. granted you don't buy some really soft compund tires.
^ word, my ZRi's have been lasting longer than every other tire i've had.
i've had: Falken GRBFK451 / ST115 Toyo T1s Dunlop SP9 / FM901 BFG kdw |

That's what I did.... Rims and tires are freakin expensive.... and then you have to lower it or it looks wrong. Throw some spacers on and call it good for a while.
