LEDs or incandescent in the instrument cluster?
Do any of you know what kind of light bulbs are in the instrument cluster ... LEDs or incandescent? I'm hoping LED's for longevity (since they're always on), but the pod seems to get kind of warm, possibly indicating incandescents. Who wants to be the first to take their G35 cluster apart? :-)
Re: LEDs or incandescent in the instrument cluster?
My past experience with LED's behind the gauge are that they concentrate on one area. So light spread is very uneven. SOme places dark some places bright where the LED's are. If you can get the LED's to spread light then they are the way to go. Don't think heat will be much of a problem.

Yah who will be the first to take their Gauge cluster apart? I want to change the color of the orange to blue, and among other things. So if anyone wants to donate a gauge cluster to me I would be more then happy to take it apart

Wow. I guess 45 watts in that small enclosure would explain the heat. I hope that they are easy to replace or designed for very long life, since they are on at full brightness most of the time (daylight).
Merlin, how did you determine this? Did you look or do you have the manual?
