Re: leveling

I think I posted this before:

Measure and place your headlight 10 meters (393.7")from a screen marked with two lines, one 8.6 cm (3.39")and another 11.3 cm (4.45")below another mark that is the same as the measured center height of your low beam bulb. I just measured and marked a cardboard box and set it on the road.

The light pattern has two distinct horizontal cut-offs, the lower one being to the left. Align the lower cut-off to shine between your two marks, and you're done.

Re: leveling

And how would you go about adjusting them if you have the tamper-proof caps installed that are supposed to keep you from adjusting them?

Re: leveling

I think that you can still make the adjustment, but it's VERY slow!
The service advisor told me several months ago that the tamper proof caps are quite easy to pop off with a screw driver. Never tried this myself however.

Re: leveling

I think that you can still make the adjustment slowly with the caps on. They just restrict the amount that you can turn the "gears". It takes quite a bit of movement (ie. full turns) to make a noticeable difference in the alignment of the lights.

Re: leveling

what's a good tool to use in order to turn the gears? and do you know which way to turn in order to move it up or down?

Re: leveling

I just used a small screwdriver. Sorry, I can't remember which way raises/lowers it. That's why it's going to be a long and tedious process to make any adjustments while the caps are in place.

Re: leveling

I just turned the two that touch each other together. I didn't notice that it changed any thing other than raising/lowering the beam.
