Guys here is a pic of my car's headlight in the daytime. I have 8000K HIDs. In January 2003, they are coming out with 10,000K HIDs.

 

That looks great, I am just wondering what's the difference? I don't know too much about mods YET (the G35 will be my first car to be modded). How much did it cost you?

 

About a grand for the hids. The difference is a big one...the HIDs on the stock G35 are about 6,000K. The ones on my vehicle are 8,000K. In brightness its a lot.

 

Oh for real... so where did you buy those badboys? Are aftermarket parts for the G35 available yet?

 

No but you have to get custom work done.

 

i thought the g35's came with 4300k HID's. in terms of brightness, i was doing sum resaerch and found that as u get higher up in the color spectrum, the lumens decrease. so like 4300k lights have 2800 lumens but 6000k lights have 2300 lumens. (these are for reflector type) so if the pattern continues, then 8000k lights would have less lumens and be less bright. but maybe that's not true for 8000k lights, either case that's y i decided to stick with the 4300k lights and not go up to 6000k.

You said your hids cost you about a grand, was that including installation?Do you know what brand they are? Just wanted to know because I want some and I - M racing has some 8,000k's on their site for $460. I'm wondering if these may be cheap imitations.

 

The stocks are much brighter then any other car Ive ever owned and seem to light up the road in front of the car very well. As far as the look goes, looks the same to me when the lights are off. Why would you spend a grand to get 2000 more k's?
