Or do the gasket in two sections and put silicone gasket sealer on the edges.

But IMHO the oem gasket is alot sturdier than the run of the mill gasket material at the store.

I think paying $30 for the OEM gasket is a helluva lot easier than cutting one by hand. Just MHO. Wow, that sucks that you had to go thru that w/ your plenum. Also not sure why they didn't recommend using a gasket!

Leak on Plenum

If you have a vacuum leak will there just be a hissing sound or can you feel the air? Will it throw a cel eventually?

Jeff92se 09-05-2006 04:47 PM

If you have a vacuum leak, it will sound like a tea pot coming to boil. That is if you have that whistling thingie on it. "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" is about the right sound. Don't ask how I know

i found the leak alright, i went and purchased a new gasket and bolted in on yesterday. the plenum problem has been fixed. but i have an idle problem. its idleing around 1000.

i had a leak and also a rough idle, im going to try the gasket and see if the idle problem will go away with that. SES light also came on, but im sure that will go away.

i had to use two gaskets and the problem was fixed, my light came on because i unplugged and cleaned my throttle body it threw a code, so i used the 12hr disconnect and everything is back to normal.
