Straight Pipes

Hey,
I just installed a pair of straight pipes on my g35 coupe. The sound is alot louder but sounds pretty mean with the Borla exhaust. Not sure if its giving any extra HP but I hope so. I'll find out on friday when I take my car to E-town. Also the car lost about 10lbs with this mod. It wasnt too hard to install if you have a lift. If you guys have any question on how to install let me know, it took me about 1 and 1/2 hours to put it.

they are lsdunique's pipes, i bought his camber arms and i was thinking about buying those but was told they would be way too loud with my injen ses. so they werent too hard to install? and for that price you must have got the polished stainless version correct?

Yep I got the stainless steal. If you have a lift it wasnt too bad. They also didnt make the car that much louder. You can hear the differnce but nothing annoying. The hardest part was taking off the bolts that got to the exhaust manifolds. You need 2 very long extentions and go threw the engine bay.

Emissions?

Do you know if it will pass emissions in illinois? I have a 06 with borla and would like to straight pipe but i was told theyre o2 sensors in the cats and it wouldnt pass.

Holy necro, Batman. Might be a new record. Doesn't look like 1BadG is one the site much anymore (if at all), so good luck getting an answer. Dunno emissions laws in Illinois, but if they use exhaust sniffers than a non-catalytic converter system will fail. If they read off the ECU via OBDII, then bung-extensions in the pipes (many pipes come with these, even HFCs) should keep you clean as far as testing is concerned.

Dunno, I've only registered in VA/ID, and it's pretty easy to get a pass in those states. Illinois might be more stringent.

Honestly if you have emissions in your state just keep the factory cats for inspection days, then you're golden.

They just check for codes here, no CEL with Art Pipes.
