MREV2 and ISO 5/16 Install Question
I'm ready to add these 2 mods and I was looking at the install documentation. At the end it has a section title "Resetting the ECU (This step is not required)". Not sure why it's there if you don't need it. My questions is for those who have installed it.
Did you have to reset the ECU? The install looks very simple and straight forward, just wondering if i need to do anything with the ECU. http://www.motordyneengineering.com/manual.pdf |
just do it...pretty simple. u can also do this by keeping the negative terminal off yr battery for 24hrs i believe. good luck, easy install
|
just do one of the resets. it's not necesssary, but it works. be sure you have an in-lbs torque wrench. where in socal are you located?
|
after you install it your check engine light will come on. after resetting the ecu you shouldnt have a problem. there are like 3 diff ways to do it and there all listed on the site just search it

I recommend doing the ecu reset. I don't know if it makes a difference, but I have the 1/2 spacer and after I installed it, the rpm idle was lower than normal, and a major problem was that the car would choke when I started after it was already warm. After I did the reset it also felt like it took the mod better.
The reset takes a few tries, so just be patient with it. It's worth it though. Good luck. |
I just did the pedal method for the heck of it. It's not so hard...

Thanks everyone for the feedback, i'm looking forward to this mod as i've heard lots of positive results from other members. Will keep you posted on the results.

The easiest way to reset the ECU is to disconnect the neg battery lead and pump the brakes 10 times. This discharges the caps in the ECU to reset the box. Much easier than the pedal method which is difficult to tell if it worked when you don't have a code to clear.
