Kinetix HFC's. Big question, need help.
first off, thanks to anyone who takes the time to help with my question.
Ive purchased 3 mods for my car and two of them are complete. Im down to installing my Kinetix HFC's. I was just browsing through the reviews section and came across a thread where a fellow member had them installed and complained because they did not mount to the stock exhaust. I Have tomorrow planned out to install mine with my friend, but this new issue might delay me. My question is, do all kinetix HFC's need additional parts to be correctly mounted to the remaining stock exhaust system? or Did this guy just have a run of bad luck? If additional parts are needed then im going to be highly upset with kinetix and send them back before I open the box. incase its a vehicle issue I have a 05 AT G35 if that helps. |
They fit fine, but don't have the tabs to connect to the bracket the stock cats are connected to.

By tabs do you mean the metal hinge with rubber on them that hold up/support the cats?
also do you know whats recomended to fix it? or should I just pay to have a muffler shop do it and explain it so they can weld some new mounts? |

The ends of part number 11 connects to your to the cats where they bend to add a little extra support and I'm guessing to also keep them from vibrating. With the Kinteix HFCs, you won't be using this bracket anymore. There have been some people who have had tabs welded on to connect to the bracket (like the Random Technology HFCs). ahhh. thankyou for the diagram. so on each stock cat there are three bolts? two that connect the cats together and one for that brace? and on the HFC's theres just the bolts that connect them, thus the support is gone.
Im about to get off work here in about 50 minutes and head over to a muffler shop where my new sister in law works, If she will cut me a deal id much rather have her install them and just get a little bracket welded up front. those tabs that people weld on, are they tabs that connect the cats together? or that L bracket with the rubber that connects to the frame? |
One thing to add/ask. If she does it and since its there, is there any custom mods I could have her do? As in remove anything and replace it with a straight pipe?

You can always get a custom axleback made... or you can get a custom true dual exhaust system... but both are quite a bit of work. |
