why doesn't my 05x exhaust have a tone

i was always under the impression that nissan made all infiniti with a slight exhaust note along with the Z's. i've heard them on g coupes, FX, Z all day long. But mines doesn't have that tone, i've also heard that people with the 04's put in coupe mids or 05 mids and they gain similiar exhaust notes. I hear the engine more then anything, now my only goal is to gain similiar stock exhaust notes, so getting an aftermarket exhaust would most likely defeat the purpose i'm trying to go at here.

would installing a coupe mid give me that noise?

The G coupe, and FX have that tone.

G sedans, EX, M, and QX do not.

Getting a coupe midpipe and exhaust will give you that tone you're looking for.

Mike, when you say exhaust, do you mean the muffler? If so, explain how a sedan would rock that, because I've never seen it. Since this is being brought up, can someone explain what the actual difference is? Is the coupe mid-pipe a thicker diameter and shorter? What else changes it, since they rock the same motor.

Also, I haven't heard one yet, but I figured that the EX would have the same note along w/ the FX?

the coupe midpipe is a lot lighter than the sedan one.. meaning more vibration and more sound.. many people get the hks or other axle back exhausts on the sedan

The EX is the quietest car Infiniti offers... you don't hear the exhaust at all.

I agree, my 05 X sounds pretty mean esp now with the Z-tube. It is totally stock except that and people turn their heads to look all the time

i hear nothing except engine noise in my 05 X, completely stock. I'm sure a Z-tube will add more engine noise but it won't do anything towards exhaust note.

most Z coupes i can hear them if they are a car behind or next to. I cant hear anything remotely close from mines.

Hmm that is strange, you can hear mine for sure. I have had my husband drive it just so I could listen to it from outside the car I will try to get a video of it for you.
