Idle is dropping like crazy, car feels like its almost gona give up.

Hey guys i just put a new md, and design chaos spacer. my idle has been acting super weird. it feels like my car is almost gona shut off. what procdures do i need to do to get back my idle to spec? Im getting a tune as well. should i just tell my tuner to bump up my idle? will that help. Do you think i have a leak?

Sounds like a vacuum leak. What kind of gasket did you use to install the spacer?

Edit:
In your original post, did you say you put two spacers in????

4drmadness 02-08-2009 09:13 PM

yea design chaos throttle body spacer, and md 5/16 spacer. i kept the stock gasket for my md spacer. When i removed the throttle body, i didnot find a gasket for that. im thinking that might be the problem

Is the md spacer new or used?

4drmadness 02-08-2009 09:15 PM

its new

So there are gaskets between both the top and bottom of the md spacer? Stock on one side and the md on the other.

One thing you might look at is if you tightened the spacer with the rubber thing around the oil fill spout. That has been known to get caught when installing a spacer.

i put the stock gasket underneath the md spacer. There is no gasket on top of it. btw is there a way to see where the leak is coming from?

You unplug your TB connector when you put that spacer in? yes = idle relearn procedure needed.

If you have a leak in the plenum spacer, you'd know it the instant the car was started. ie.. a loud shreek noise.

yea i performed the idle realearn procedure a couple of times, and it still has weird idle. im jus gona try doin it a couple more times

Need a gasket on the throttle body. Did that spacer have an o-ring on one side of it?

4drmadness 02-09-2009 02:39 AM

yea the spacer had the two O rings on each side. Do you know what the stock gasket lloks like, cause i didnt see one. i think that might be a problem

Looks like this. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FACTO...spagenameZWD1V

But yeah, you probably have a slight vacuum leak somewhere.

Had the same issue... after installing spacer... i forgot to reconnect a vaccum hose.. check all your hoses.. even the one on the passanger side of the plenum... thats the one i forgot...

4drmadness 02-09-2009 02:57 PM

Yea i will defintely check out if i left any hoses as well. Im thinkin it is a leak, i just dont know where the leak is coming from
