XERD Test Pipe's??
 

As I posted and gathered info on these test pipe's (Helix,Kinetix and XERD) I was about ready to go with the Helix because of the price and quality from what ive read. Where i get my car worked on (perf.nissan) the guy said we have some test pipe's here and we'll hook u up for a better price than online, I was like what brand and he said better than helix and kinetix are XERD! Are they better? Are they all equally free flowing and the same? Or was he just trying to sell them? Friday im going back to install stuff and want to know should I go ahead witht he helix or save the time and go with XERD, thanks! Martin

I've had xerd race pipes on my IS300 and the quality is top notch. I picked up a set for the G a month or so back but haven't had the chance to install them yet. they are made of stainless steel so you don't have to worry about them rusting out. don;t know much about the other brands but xerd makes quality stuff.

don't know how they sound on the G yet, I'm too dang lazy to install them. but from what I read any, race pipe (cat delete) will have a raspy sound. I really don't understand why, cause on every other car that I've owned and deleted the cats the sound was never raspy. On my IS the Xerd sounded exactly like stock at idle, and normal driving. at WOT you could hear a deeper tone and a little bit more volume but no raspyness to it. I liked the sound on the IS, it made sound aggressive and bang for the buck this is the best mod out there if you don't mind global warming.

I just installed Helix test pipes this morning, and the sound is anoying, you should listen to test pipes before putting them on your car. The guys at the shop said they could get me a custom y pipe with a resonator to quite it down a bit. I might try that. By the way I am in South Florida if you want to take a listen

Lol thanks for the offer, but im in NY!!! Damm man, now im not even sure if I want to put them on my car ?!?! Some people say it sounds amazing, and some say its horrible and annoying. Can you take a sound clip please? Martin

well if u like loud muffler sound u may like it
for example .. a type R with spoon muffler
they are more high pitch sound and louder
if u can't stand it...don't buy it
if u only like low deep sound..don't buy it unless u have TT or SC

u may not like the sound but u may like the power when u are in high RPM or high speed

Oh wow, maybe i'll just go with some high flow cats then!! I dont want to be stuck with horrible sounding test pipe's, I rather get resonated ones then for an extra 150$ or so.. Thanks though..

The sound is amazing on my car, no rasp and very deep and mean!! But thats ont he sedan #1 and 2) i have borla and xerd combo for the sedan, i didnt get to see what car you had, go free flowing for whatever you do with them, they will sound like shi! on stock exhaust, you need a free flowing aftermarket exhaust, Martin

I finally got mine installed...guess what, it throws the service engine soon light. I believe it's only on 2004 that do this.

it sounds pretty fricken' mean at idle. there is the rasp (buzzy sound) that people mention at 3k to 4k. it's pretty bad if you're doing partial throttle accelleration when the engine is cold. But after it warms up it dies down considerably (still there though). On WOT or under load when warmed up somestimes it's there sometimes not, seems to be if you're pushing the car hard it goes away more. I've learned to drive around this little anoyance. For the most part it sounds perfect, but it does get embassarsing at times.

Damm man, enjoy it though!! Mine sounds meant throughout the whole RPM band and like a deep V8 engine with no rasp, weird and i also have no check engine light coming on... Good luck with it, look up Non Fouler in search all forums and you will see an easy fix for the check engine soon light.. Martin

Does anyone else know if the service engine light is a problem after installing on an 03 Coupe?
