Best Exhaust Set Up my Wife Won't Hear?

Considering changing exhaust, but don't want to be excessively loud. Something the wife would have a hard time picking up unless I was WOT. Also an exhaust virgin, any explanations of Mid Pipe, Test pipes, Cat Back, Straight Pipe, blah blah and so on would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks,

g4ian

This leaves you with two choices: HKS or Blitz for sedan. HKS have a stock like dual tip. Your wife probably won't even notice the different unless you WOT.

Or you can just get a y-pipe. I believe it will yield you better gains than axle-back muffler. My wife couldn't notice the difference.

The Fujitsubo exhaust is very mild.

I second that. The Fuji is pretty sweet.

My vote is for the Crawford cats. You'll get actual gains, and the sound will change slightly. Also cheaper than getting an exhaust. Looks stock as well, so no chance of the wife finding out. Add a Z tube for more sound if you like.

I want to maintain the stock look of the exhaust, I am leaning towards stillen, however I am curious as to the pro's/cons of Stillen True Dual Catback vs. Crawford cats? Suggestions?

Thanks,

g4ian

Re: Best Exhaust Set Up my Wife Won't Hear?

If you want to maintain the stock look, then any aftermarket will defeat that purpose, some less than others. A trained eye will notice the stillen on your car.

The reason I suggested crawford cats is because I have them with a completely stock exhaust and I noticed gains, which is not often noted with adding a catback. Also, the car looks completely stock.

I think the cats are an often overlooked item, pushed secondary sometimes to a catback, when I think it should be reversed. Do the cats first, you'll notice gains and a slight tone difference. Then decide whether you want to spend another grand to essentially change the exhaust note. I don't think you'd notice the same performance gains with a catback. And the cats are only about $450.

You may find with the cats that you don't even want or need a catback change.

Are the Crawford cats street legal? I looked at them online and they say only for off road use. (I live in Ohio)

Also, what about adding an y-pipe to the crawford cats?
