2004 G35x AWD Exhaust vs. RWD Exhaust

I have a 2004 G35x and went to a repair place to have my exhaust looked at, it's pretty rusted. They stated that it needed to be replaced from the y-pipe back. At at first they quoted me around $450. I was fine with that. A little bit later they called after they got the parts in and told me they incorrectly ordered the parts for the RWD model. They then said that none of the parts are the same and it would cost around $1,200. I thought the only difference was the Y pipe. Can someone tell me if there are other differences and if the quotes are really that much different.

Thanks

Nope, the only difference is the Y-pipe.

so since the y-pipe is the only difference from there back I could use a coupe/ 350 cat back?

Not without a sh!t ton of modification.

any suggestions on systems?

IIRC Stillen made an X specific system but don't quote me on that. I'm still not convinced the Y-pipe is the only difference, it's been a long time since I researched first gen exhausts. But if it is you can buy whatever Y fits then add any mid-pipe/muffler combination for the 03-04 sedan.

It's also worth shopping around your local exhaust shops to see who does work on the performance cars in town, surely someone has a mandrel bender and can make you a good exhaust for a reasonable price. Just make sure they use bolted/clamped flanges so it can be removed.
