ART pipes installed = SLOW CAR!!!

I hope I'm missing something or the ART pipes will have to go. Last week I installed a new set of V3 ART pipe and reset the ECU at the same time. I was excited to see if there was a noticeable difference and unfortunately there was... for the worse! The car has lost it's pep, and does not have the power it did before the install.

I double checked the install, everything is bolted up straight and the gaskets are in place correctly. The O2 sensors are in and there are no check engine lights.

It's been said that it may take the adaptive learning some time to pick up the mod, but so far there has been no change (7 days).

I am open to suggestions... please. : )

The car is a 2005 G35 Coupe 5AT and currently has stock exhaust/y-pipe, MD 5/16 spacer, z tube.

You need a Tune.....

bchalks 05-30-2014 08:09 PM

Get a catback exhaust. Then get tuned. You will not regret it.

tune tune tune tune tune tune tune

Shawno72 05-30-2014 11:28 PM

I got a tune. I want art pipes and catback!!

Is this normal on the G35 with Test/ART pipes? I'm hoping to get in for a dyno tune in the next couple weeks... but was a bit nervous seeing the car lose power and considered putting the stock cats back on.

let them break in and let the ecu learn the new AFR/ignition/knock it needs to compensate for.

you still need a tune to maximize power.

This thread is fail.

Let them break in?? How exactly does a pipe break in? There are no moving parts?

Let the ECU learn? The ECU learns in closed loop mode constantly.

An exhaust leak near the header flange can cause the O2 to read funny and car will lose torque.

Test pipe gives u more top end than down low torque, so a strong top end can make the bottom end feel week.

you clearly have no idea what gains art pipes have with your last statement. but fine. apparently you know all about gains, ecu management, and tuning.

Just call tony at Motordyne

Have you purchased a set and dyno tested them? If so post charts? I will be waiting.

DrewDrew 06-05-2014 01:19 AM

yes. i do own a set. yes. they're dyno tested. yes. i'm tuned with them.

Please, show me where ART pipes lost power in the powerband. And no, you're not going to feel a loss of 7hp at 2000 rpm. If you don't feel the torque gains with ART pipes in the low end, you have no idea what you're looking for/feeling when driving.

Dude is so busy and thirsty to argue he didnt notice I never said ART pipe lose power. LOL

I also asked him did he have dyno charts of HIS car and he posted somebody else's dyno and data from the manufacturer. If that is the case, I am going to go get me a Tornado intake, Slick 50 racing oil, and one of those eletric intake superchargers cause they all had dynos that made power according to the manufacturer.

Now for the record I am not doubting ART pipes or Tonys info. Im actually a Professional Engineer and understand fluid and thermo dynamics. And even the charts he posted show more top end gains that torque. You proved my own point for me.

You should have got Berk cats.

You probably just have an exhaust leak.
