Amuse exhaust alternatives ?

I don't like 9 out of 10 after market exhausts we got for the VQ... almost all of them take away that sweet higher pitched exotic note and favor a deep muscular gurgle/rumble as if the car is a V8 or something.

Personal preference and I know many of you disagree, but the Amuse is one exhaust that amplifies the higher note of our exhaust and turns it into something even more exotic. Now I know that's due to the fact that it's made out of titanium and thats the sort of sound you get from that specific metal.

But what other options aside from Amuse do we have for a similar sound ?
I know that a full Nismo and full Fujitsubo are pretty close to what I'm looking for though, would you guys agree or suggest something else ?
I also know that Exotic Speed makes an Amuse replica, and that would be perfect since they're local to me, but it has that same deep sound I don't like however

I had the Exotic Speed paired with ART pipes and XYZ w/ resonator and it sounded really good. But without the Art pipes and XYZ it didnt sould too good. Now I have it wit ha single turbo and not thrilled on the sound. Sounds real good when easy on the gas, but open it up and its loud.

Im selling my Greddy TiC exhaust. Its a good one. Im switching to a tomei. If you prefer that high note you need titanium I believe... I also have thought of doing an armytrix exhaust should help out a bit to.

Hmm..my exhaust sounds strikingly similar to that amuse exhaust and all I did was delete the resonator and replace the muffler with a magnaflow muffler. Cost me $319otd. I have have a k&n panel filter, z-tube and 5/16 spacer.

My favorite with SLICKS HKS exhaust combined with Motordynes X-Pipe to blend the pulses flowing thru Fast Intention HFCs is listening while I shift thru the gears at 2K rpm. That sweet high pitched sound...nothing sounds better! No I don't have a vid, you gotta hear her in person!

What do you think would happen if you just deleted the resonator and kept everything else stock?

it would be what I have. Louder and cheaper sounding

NickHuver 10-22-2014 09:10 PM

Does it have any resemblance to a complete stock, or is it raspy as some would detail it?

its identical, just raspier and more annoying in the higher rpms.

But Adon I 100% agree with ur opinion, I think the exact same thing whenever I listen to exhausts on YouTube, 9/10 lose that high pitched note and sound like crap. Amuse is that 1/10. And also I work at a BMW dealership in a high end auto mall and hear exotics go by everyday and always look to see what car it is. When I first started there I heard an amazing high pitched exhaust that sounded like something I couldn't put my finger on. Turns out it's a guy in a 350 who works in the auto mall too. One night leaving work I pulled up next to him And asked what it was. He said the whole setup really fast cus the light turned green but the one part I caught was an HKS catback and hfc's

Regardless of what it sounds like, its better for the car. Getting rid of turbulant air is always the goal.

Taking a resonator out is like switching to a z-tube from a G tube, but on the exhaust side. Baffles and resonators work by slowing the airflow down due to swirling air inside the baffle/resonator. Air swirls around in the baffle/resonator instead of going straight to its intended place of business, basically slowing the air down. That's why z tubes make your car louder. More air goes in because the the z tube provides better efficiency, which is gonna obviously mean more air must go out. More air out means more air passing thru the muffler which is where the sound is coming from. Getting rid of the resonator provides an easier path out for the exhaust.
