Limp mode CAI
Question. I have a AEM CAI that i want to get rid of as I'm tired of getting limp mode issues due to rain/water hitting it on the front. It came with the car so I didn't install it nor do I have the old parts.
I came across the R2C intakes and am considering buying it. Here's the issue, I don't have any of the stock parts from the oem setup. Will I need any of the OEM stuff to install the R2C setup or is it stand alone? Is there any other options considering I don't have any of the stock parts? I'm assumg I'd have to buy an air box and the tubing if I went another route??? |
Just put the damn oem revup box in there

Here's a link for the oem revup. This and a z-tube have proven to be the most effective intake.

For a lot cheaper I can send you a short ram or you can cut your current one short and be done.

How much do you want for your short ram and what is it? |
Just take a little bit off, it won't make much to fix your issue. Although I never had that problem with one directly in my bumper. But if you're sure that's the problem and its not a loose connection then that's the easiest thing to do

I'm surprised you haven't gotten it wet or had any issues as mine sits directly exposed to the elements. :confused2: When you say take a little but off you're talking a few inches or do you mean cutting the tubing far enough so it sits up on top of the motor? |

Yours shouldn't be exposed to the elements. Are you missing the factory splash shielding in the wheel wells & under the car?

I ordered one of these filter wraps and we'll see how it goes when it gets here. http://www.aemintakes.com/search/pro...px?Prod=1-4000 |
Beware that they keep water in too. Made one of my cheapo filters rust out a few years ago
