MREV+ installed on a NON REVUP engine!

Hi Guys,

I've recieved a million requests asking if the MREV can be installed on the 280 HP engine. Unfortunatly I had to turn them all down because the MREV is simply a spacer with a lower plenum from the 280 HP engine. ...So if you have the 280 HP engine, all you need to do is install a spacer and you automatially have a MREV.

But you know of that machining process I have been doing to the MREV+ lower collectors to allow for more air flow?...

Well, I dynod it on a 280 HP engine and it made surprisingly good gains.

Analysis is done! Here are the results:

So yes, MREV+ can be installed on a 287 engine.
If you already have a spacer, all you need to do is modify the lower collector and it will make more torque and more horse power! In addition to area under the curve, it will kick up the peak HP by about 4-6 HP.

This is a completely new catagory of plenum modification for the 287 engine!

Lower Plenum Core exchange for the 280 HP engine is a go! I'll set up the Motordyne website to accomodate core exchanges.

Any idea what would happen on an 03 sedan w/ the 260 engine?

Gdup35sedan 03-31-2006 02:09 PM

tony, dont you mean all the dyno's were performed on a 2005 sedan? the 04's dont have the 280hp motor.

say again? I'm kinda loss.

I have an 03-280hp engine.

The MREV+ will work with my engine? I can get that MREV+ and expect better gain the the 5/16" spacer alone - According to the graph, the gain is almost doubled the 5/16" Spacer?

So I need both???

im lost aswell? mrev+ can work on 03 280hp engine?

Go back and re-read his post. The mrev is the spacer plus the lower plenum(which < 05 guys already have). The mrev+ is the machined lower plenum. So for you guys that already have a spacer, he's setting up a core exchange for the lower plenum.

the original post says MREV = spacer + lower plenum from 280HP engine, which is what came in all pre-2005 Coupes. What I don't get is why would you want a pre-2005 plenum on your 2005&up G35...

ok let me rephrase, would this be applicable for the 03 sedan w/ the 260 engine?

YES! And that is because they are the same engine.

I've seen so many stock dynos of each and they make the same numbers. (+/- 5 HP)

If there ever was a difference it must have been in the very, very beginning of G35 Sedan production.

To mix things up even further. Okay this new mod tested on the 280 hp engine is a modded lower manifold + spacer.

Now you say it would work equally as well on the 260hp versions. Sweet!

Now. I happen to have a Crawford V5. Would the modded lower manifold + Crawford plenum (or any plenum for that matter) still net some decent results?

Logic being. The modded lower is the key to the hp gain. But a spacer or maybe plenum is needed to allow the engine to breath well enough to realize that gain? It might not matter where the improved breathing comes from?

I assume this modded lower can be done to any non-revup piece?

Thanks

I havn't tested it with a V5, but I'll bet a dollar it works the same.;)

No, that is the machining process.

The refundable core is $222.

Alan 03-31-2006 05:16 PM

so basicaly to clarify, for mrev plus i send you my core and $122, and you modify runners 1 and 2 and send it back.

if i want to keep my original core, i send you an additional 222 and you just send me a brand new machined core?
