Jacking your G35
 

I wanted to pull my wheels off and get a look at all those shiny aluminum suspension goodies this weekend. So, how do I jack up my car? One look at the jack in the trunk told me I couldn't use my floor jack, so I started messing around in the garage. I can always turn a 30 minute job into a full day. I ended up cutting and welding and milling, and came up with a replacement saddle for my floor jack. I've included pics in case anyone can use it for their own good.

Why a replacment saddle? Im confused.

There's a panel seam that sticks straight down at both front and rear jacking point. The standard jack saddle (black, right) would mash that seam flat, and probably rip it open. I made a new saddle that supported both sides along the same, but left it open in the middle. Take the jack out of your trunk and look closely how it's cut out in the middle. I just emulated this.

I bought a replacement saddle from the local 'Princess Auto' for about $10. It's 4 3/4" square and has a thick scored rubber pad on it that spreads the load thereby preventing damage.
I also made hardwood adapters for the jackstands to prevent crushing the 'seam'.
