Chop-Top G35 (No, I haven't given up)
I've been talking around and finally found out that a friend of mine owns 3 body shops around Houston, and is willing to do some custom work. We talked about several things when undergoing a three to four inch drop of the G35 Coupe's roof. The first is obviously structural integrity. We're wondering if chassis braces would be enough. Another thing is that we will have to get aftermarket seats lower to the ground, and the back two seats will be worthless. One method of lowering the roof is by having a C6 Corvette type removable roof. That means we'll leave most of the rear quarter panel, strengthen what we leave, and devise a mechanism to just be able to snap the roof on and off. I have talked to carbon creations and seibon to see if they'd be interested in making one. The glass is the next issue, get new glass all together or shave and cut the current windows?
What do u guys think?
By the way, this is already coming to be between 3500-4000 minimum. It's likely this price will sky rocket the more we delve into the building process.
