Any advice on this "dent"?

i found that when i came out of a bank. my guess is, i either hit it pile of snow/ice while i was parking that wasnt as soft as i expected, or someone kicked it in. eitherway, any advice on how to fix it? anyone have any diagrams or a way i can get in there and hammer it out?

should need to be "hammered". just get back there and pop it out asap. mabye use a heat gun on it so the paint doesnt spider or chip, if it hasnt already

Yeah but is there a way to get back there without having to take off the bumper? cause its a major pain in the ***...... I did some search and found directions on removing it, but couldnt come up with info on how to just get my hand back there by removing like 1 panel or something easier ya know?

get a heat gun if you don't have one...cheap, $15 at harbor freight. undo all the bolts that attach under the front bumper. this will give you all the access you need. get the heat gun behind the bumper and run back and forth. be careful because you can melt the poly very quickly if you're not careful. use a terry cloth towel to cover your fingers and push out from behind. alternate heat and pushing and most of that should pop out.

in most videos I saw online they were using hairdryers and heatguns from the front... any particular reason why u recommend from re back? Do u think the paint will be damaged from the front?

i would heat from the front. the heat will help prevent the paint from cracking and spidering. im sure the bumper will get hot enough from either side to prevent that though

Pull off the undertray. Get a heat gun on the front of the bumper and push out from the back. Its not gonna come back to being perfect but its gonna be close, close enuf that no one else will ever notice.

I went to a body shop and the guy told me its gonna cost 170 to push it out with a heatgun... debating whether I should just do it my self or have them do it.

do it yourself, why waste unnecessary money! I am confident you can do it!

Why would you pi55 away $170 when you can do exactly what they are gonna do? Im sure there are stress cracks in the clear and basecoat but neither of you are gonna be able to get rid of them without respraying. The process of popping the dent out is a matter of 3 minutes, theyre gonna rape you with labor charges to get at the backside.

Do it yourself and learn something, and save some cash.

Do I need a car jack to lift the car and remove the undertray? Or can this be done without it? Are there any guides for removing undertrays? I'd rather not remove the entire bumper....

Yes youre gonna need to jack the car up. After that the undertray is attached with about 15-20 10mm bolts. Take them out so you can gain access to the backside of the bumper. Heat the front and push the dent out from the back.

DO NOT BAKE the paint with the heatgun. Move it back and forth in a sweeping motion. Once its hot to the touch, push from the back.

I tried with my jack to get to the center garage lift point between the from wheels, but the car is too low for the jack. Will grab the jack that's in the trunk and work on each sides of the jack stands tomorrow individually while losening the bolts. Ill report in with the results...
