DRL/fog lights not working

Hi,

My '06 coupe Driving lights/fog lights aren't working and I could use some help (Canadian car). My passenger side died first, and when I flick for fogs, it is non responsive. I then swapped out the bulb for the oem unit with no luck. About a week later, the driver side died as well. Like the passenger side, the DRL function and fog function when you turn the switch on the stalk does nothing. I did some research and found that the sedans have a 'daytime control light unit' where the soldering can go bad. On the sedans it is located on the passenger side, by the hood shut sensor. I can't find it on the coupe. Any help would be great.

Thanks!

(I checked the fuses as well and they appear to be fine)

Edit: I checked the FSM and had no luck, unless I totally suck and missed it

Have you checked the top left fuse in the IPDM (third fuse box to the left of the battery)? My DRL died when I replaced a bulb.

I have, or at least I think I have. You mean the big cone shaped black cover, to the left of the battery and kind of underneath of the harness, right?

And what do you mean by the the third fuse box? I have the forementioned one next to the battery, and then the one by the clutch. What year is your G? Is it different than the 06?

You are correct :( I don't know then.

No worries, thanks for your help!

Double post this in the Canadian section or message member whatacar... Or something like that. They deal more with the DRL situation.

Wow I do totally suck. Since my window motor was screwing up again, I decided to have a look at the driver side bulb after I reset my window motor. As soon as I took out the bulb, i dropped it and the filament broke. I then swapped in the oem bulb and no luck...till I clamped it in. I didn't realize that the clamp had to be engaged on top of being plugged in for the bulb to work (when I was testing it last week I just had the wire hanging out with the bulb attached to it). I then had a look at the passenger side and that bulbs filament was broken too! When I checked it last week it looked fine. Now I'm thinking both bulbs were just burnt out prematurely, and they must have had tiny tiny fractures in them that I didn't even see before (and the driver side was probably broken before I even dropped it).

Oh well, at least I have working lights again and it isn't some wiring issue. Though I am dissapointed, I was running Silverstar ZXE's and was REALLY happy with them. I had them for about a year now? How did they burn out that fast? Anyway, thanks Urban engineer and whoever else took the time to read this thread.
