07-G35S - door panel interchangable with 2010?

My 2007 G35 Sport doors panels are all scratched up. I noticed the newer 2010 models have a smooth hard plastic insert instead of the soft stuff in the 2007. Does anyone know if they are inter-changable?

Not sure but you can get an 08+ and they are better material. They switched over mid 08 to a different material. My 07 was crap like yours and my 08 is just perfect. Harder plastic.

^ nice to know i want to get this done too soon, but if '10 fits that would be perfect since that material seemed pretty sturdy and scratch free to me on my test drive, can ANYONE plz confirm?

samsizzle 11-06-2010 04:53 AM

uhhh isnt this covered by the tsb that countless threads have made about :confused2:

soundmike 11-06-2010 06:42 AM

^ yep, it's a warranty item.

Btw, here's another vote for the '08 version. It feels almost like the '07 but made of better material -- i haven't been able to scratch mine after it was replaced. The later years have a rather "cheap" textured plastic feel.

Looks like the 09+ G37 Sedans are different. I had a 09 G37 loaner today and here's the photo. The plastic trim looks cheap but it definitely cant be scratched as easy. It also wont fit as you can see in the photo the 09+ aren't as long.

Anyways, I had the dealer replace all 4 doors and the steering wheel under warranty. I asked about getting the 08 model but they cant do it since its a warranty claim and if I really wanted it would be out of pocket. :( Also, the newer steering wheel's leather is cheap looking/feel compare to the stock 07.

Don't take this the wrong way but in all of the threads I have followed, regarding this interior door bezel scratching/peeling issue, I am yet to see proof of a TSB or Warranty item number. Has one been posted? There's still nothing posted at infinitihelp

Call or email your infiniti service rep. We sent photos and they said no problem bring it in. Doesnt hurt to try if your still in the bumper to bumer warranty period. Worst case they say no and you pay for the 08 door parts approx $35/each. :)

I've already been to the dealer and done that. I'm well within warranty. Currently 53k km and 36 months young. It was many months ago when I showed the problem to Infiniti.
I know what they cost. I mentioned it on here a couple years ago in one of the first, of many, door scratch threads started.
They said it's wear and there is no coverage for it. There is no TSB either.

The point I am trying to make is that a few folks here are saying its a TSB item as well but noone posts proof. That would be most helpful for the rest of us having difficulty with our dealers and what not.

I don't think it's a TSB but rather something that's just covered under warranty... i believe under material defect. It's kind of like the stress cracks on my headlamps, not a TSB but certainly a warranted item.

yeah its not a TSB, sorry for the misunderstanding. I just told them it was peeling and they said 'yeah thats covered under warranty' and did it with no questions asked.

I guess each dealership differs, but I went to one that some others recommended on this board and it worked out well. Have your tried calling corporate, RPM?

kool_yaar 11-13-2010 10:05 PM

^+1 not a TSB, just a mistake that infiniti made with their cheap choice of material and some dealers are more considerate than others and help out

kmuniz78 11-14-2010 10:51 AM

...just normal wear and tear folks. No TSB as nothing is wrong with it. Just wears easily. That would be similar to the seats, shift knob, tires, blah, blah, blah...

And another thing, the best way to cut down on the wear and tear of that area, is to obviously enter and exit your G35 the Duke's of Hazard way. MWahahahahaaa

rpm&my_G35 11-14-2010 11:24 AM

I realize you are kidding a little. I've owned and driven a lot of cars, of a wide price range, in 30 years driving and none of them had this problem. Normal...I disagree.
