Driver's seat moving on it's own.

I'm having an issue with the driver's seat. Several times a month while driving my seat will start moving on it's own forward and backward. The seat switches are completely unresponsive during this occurrence, it's like my seat is possessed! Also sometimes if I use the controls to move the seat forward, the car will not allow me to move the seat backwards again for about 10-15 minutes.

It's very odd and annoying, considering I'm 6'4. Occasionally I end up pulling over because my knee's are up on the dashboard! Unfortunately I know nothing about how to fix this and I know nothing about the components to the seat switch.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? What was your solution?

Do you have memory seats?

ATXmax Aug 23, 2014 07:49 AM

Yes I do, I've never used it though. Seems unnecessary.

Well if there are settings stored in the memory it will automatically move the seat upon exit/entry. I would disconnect the battery for about 15 min to clear any settings and see if that works.

When I first bought my G I had the same issue until I reset the settings.

I'll try that and let you know

I honestly think the seat switches are just dirty. I ordered a cleaner for specifically this purpose and I'm hoping that works. God forbid I have to take it down to the a$$holes at the Infiniti dealership.

My prob is tilt is stuck in up position. Fwd/back/up down working ok.My legs are numb after 20 min drive. Because they're (non dealer) imports here in Australia Nissan dealer charges fortune. (example: dealer radiator $800 - I imported one for $180). Is there any way someone can post a "how to" re getting seat switch out or changing gears/motor or both? Forever grateful from Downunder......

I reprogrammed the memory seats and so far it hasn't happened again, but it's hard to tell since it only happens about once a week or so.
I also ordered this to help clean all the crap out of the switch ( ) it was highly recommended by people on other forums with this issue.
As far as opening the switches up, I'm still researching that. Nobody is being specific on their instructions and I don't want to just wing it.

So resetting the memory function worked?

ATXmax Aug 26, 2014 01:38 PM

Nope, happened again yesterday.
