Someone tell me where I went wrong
I bought a set of 6/10 GTR Bat's overlays, and after 3 hours I finally gave up and tossed it all. I followed the directions e.g. soapy water bucket, soft cloth, credit card and hair drier. No matter what I tried, I could not get the cutouts for the tail lights/brake lights and the cutout for the backup lights lined up all together, without a lot of "excess" film that turned into big creases in the film as I tried to smooth out bubbles and wrinkles. I tried peeling, re-sticking a number of times, nothing worked for me.
I know a LOT of people have successfully done this so I feel like a dumb@ss. It's very frustrating. I do all my own work on my car so I feel like I'm pretty mechanically inclined. But I failed miserably at this. Anyone have any suggestions? At this point I am very hesitant to waste another $45 unless I can convince myself it will be better next time. Don't feel to bad... The exact same thing happened to me when I tried installing mine. I also ended up trashing them... Bat makes great product, it was operator error on my part...
I ended up getting Top Secret CF tail lamp covers :) |

http://s82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...otie/overlays/ 1) Type "R" Badge.. 2) "Powered by Honda" sticker.. 3) 4 ft. Aluminized wing 4) Mugen seat belt covers.. It seems that all the work that you've done on your car isn't too complex to begin with.. so installing the overlays on your car shouldn't be too much over the edge for you bud!.. lol jk! :D I hope that made you laugh a little bit:rolleyes: From what I've seen and heard about "Bat".. he's a cool guy and i'm sure that he'll be able to work something out with you.. Believe me.. i'm sure you wrench on your car a lot more.. and a lot better than myself. You'll be fine.. don't get so harsh on yourself yo! |

Hey, it takes mad moddin' skills to line up that Type R badge just right! And I had to use a LOT of velcro to hold that wing on!!! |

Don't feel bad. My first set took longer than three hours, but turned out good except color was off. Yes, Bat does color ovrlys too.
Got my second set and they turned out worse than yours and still don't have any ovrlys on my tails. :( It just takes lots of patience and time. My second set I rushed, which is why I screwed them up. During the install, wish I had three hands at times. One for hair dryer, one for plastic squeegee and one to pull and stretch ovrly when it started to wrinkle all at the same time. Next time I'll have an extra set of hands to help me. |
Yup, I screwed up my tail too, but I'm getting another one from Bat and will try again.

Sorry to hear you had problems. I guess Bat is happy with the repeat customers. LOL
