double HID's
 

i have 2 sets of headlights adn i was wondering if i could switch out the regular fogs with the hid's so that i have them in the top and bottom areas of the headlight....can this be done with or without a little modification?

you could use the ballasts from another set of headlight but you will need H4 rebased D2R HID bulbs instead of the one in the low beam of the second set of headlights. This is the only way the factory refector retainers will hold the bulb in place.

Has anybody tried this?? Converting our H4 into D2r?? I have a friend bought this for his BMW and he says it works real good.

look at the section that refers to the H4 casper shield - those are junk. if you go with a rebased H4 HID setup, expect to have some pretty nappy lighting.

the problem with H4 based HID is that you lose foglight/high beam function, even the ones with such function don't last too long. Thats why some opt for quad projectors.

that is what I was referring to, those use a piece of magnet for the mechanism, it has problems of it getting stuck after prolonged use.

not to mention, the designers of that fine kit (sarcasm) have not taken into account that halogen lamps and xenon lamps make light differently. therefor, the optics of the lamp are completely WRONG for that bulb. putting an hid bulb in the fog/high beam will do nothing more than create POOR lighting.

just because that flap moves, it doesnt mean that it actually does anything useful. so it shifts the light beam around, big deal.. that doesnt actually create a high-beam. this is much, much different.. than the professionally engineered bixenon 06+ headlamps - atleast with those, the bixenon projector works like designed. those rebased "bixenon" retrofit kits are complete trash.

at least the will be more white/blue compared to stock HIDs, and yellow halogens.
