Custom gauge cluster finally done!
Aye guys,
Just wanted to post a couple pics of a little project I wrapped up a couple hours ago. Lets just say Im glad to be relaxing right now, this was no easy task. The lcds in the pic are actually much more orange. Also there appears to be "hotspots" but in reality it is really quite even. This was all done with white 8mm inverted leds (really bright). The blue was achieved by using lighting gel made for high temp stage lights. I used a color called tokyo blue. I would have liked to change the lcds to blue but it looks like you need to buy new polarizer film for the lcd. Another obstacle is also not being able to take the needles off so I can remove the overlay and gain better access to the lcd. Also, the reason you are seeing reflections in the housing is because I lined the roof of the cluster with carbon fiber which adds a really nice touch IMO. Anyway, Tell me what you guys think. http://www.techelpdesk.com/g/blueguages.jpg http://www.techelpdesk.com/g/blue.jpg Better shot of the carbon fiber: http://www.techelpdesk.com/g/carboncluster.jpg Update: http://www.techelpdesk.com/g/intprogressdone1.jpg http://www.techelpdesk.com/g/intprogressdone2.jpg |

great work.real nice custom job.
|
nice.. now people can start PMing you instead of me. :D
oh btw: you have to take the needles out to access the LCDs. don't force the needles out.. bascially one way to pull out the needles without messing it up is to pop off the black cap, and you have to hold down the rod while you pull up on the needle. You absolutely do not want to pull up on the rods itself... i like it! :) |
