Help please!!! I'll pay you...seriously!

Does anyone know how to replace a rear side marker light (technically, an LED, according to my manual)? One of mine has gone dead somehow, and I simply want to replace it with another factory LED. I just called Infiniti and they said the only way to replace the rear side marker lights is to purchase an entire new light assembly (>$200). This doesn't seem right. If anyone is willing to offer SAFE directions on how to replace this LED, I'd be willing to pay them for that information. Thank you!
So there is no confusion on what light I'm talking about, please see the attached photo. |
I also need to know this... Just realized mine was out like 3 days ago. :(

It's my understanding the whole tailight has to be replaced. Unless you are into sodering or replacing the circuit board I have an extra one laying around if your interested.

Hi-Tech_G....I'm very interested....Please contact me ASAP with a price/condition/location/details.
How can I contact you? |

Id imagine if you still have your warranty that should be covered?

hmm correct me if im wrong but it seems that the picture clearly shows the side markers...and it should be a bulb type rather than led...
i have a set of 06 tailamp assembly so i checked...seems bulb to me... here's the light assy http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...h/IMG_0311.jpg the reverse side.. the arrow marks the bulb location http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...h/IMG_0314.jpg from below... there's the hole for the bulb http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...h/IMG_0313.jpg closer image... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...h/IMG_0312.jpg and this diagram for the 2005 tailamp assy...note the bulb in the drawing http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...yYeoh/bulb.jpg |

^^^^^ Yup, beat me to it, but it is a bulb.

nameless.....Thank you for those detailed pictures. Yes, you were correct...the picture shows the side markers. I should have noted that this is for a 2003 model (the picture I provided is actually my car). I'm sure you already know this, but the tail light assembly looks slightly different on the earlier model cars (mine) compared to the newer model cars (such as the pictures you posted). I HOPE, however, that the assembly itself has not changed, because replacing a bulb seems much easier and less risky than replacing an LED.
|
Additionally...
Additionally, I just want to make myself clearer...
I will HAPPILY pay somebody for the information leading to either how to fix the bulb myself, or simply whether or not the Infiniti dealer doesn't know what they're talking about, and can simply replace the bulb, rather than the entire assembly. Because the post was at the top...I'll state it again: Infiniti said that the rear side marker lights CAN NOT be replaced UNLESS the entire light assembly (>$200) is replaced. |

The service manual pic is from an '05 (lamps changed in '06). The dealer doesn't know what they're talking about. Go pull the lamp and find out for yourself!
EDIT: This should clear up the confusion -- the sedan has LED's which is probably why the dealer told you that. |
