What's the dif?
My friend just gave me a GP thunder 35w HID kit that runs H4s for my low beams... I'm wondering if I would be better off just staying w/ the OEM D2R set up. I'm also wondering what is the difference between the H4 and the D2Rs are? Are they pretty much the same or is there a significant difference? Should I do the install? Thanks for your help guys.

The kit your friend gave you is for the fog lights. H4's are not HID's, they are halogens. With this "kit" you will maintain your stock D2R low beams and add HIDs to your fog light/high beam housing.

so... the D2Rs are better right? and it wouldn't make sense to replace them w/ the H4 set up. and the Fog/High Beams are Bi-xenon and the "kit" is a single unit it wouldn't make sense for me to replace those either?

i'm assuming you have 03-05 headlights.
you are not replacing the stock HIDs in any way with this kit. this kit is to replace your fog lights/high beams. h4 bulbs are dual filament (first is your fogs, second is your high beams). if you replace your h4 bulbs with this HID kit, then you will not be able to switch from fogs to highs - they will be bright enough, anyway. beware that installing this HID kit will cause glare to oncoming traffic. |
thanks Calvin, this stuff confuses the heck out of me!

top one is your HID low beam. the bottom is both your fog and high beam. if you install this kit, you will be replacing the bulb on the bottom. the top light will remain unaffected. the bottom light will turn on when you turn your fog switch on. it will not "get brighter" when you turn your high beam on (as it does now with your h4 bulbs because they are dual filament). |
