Headlight won't stay on!!!! GRRRR!!!
My drivers side headlight (HID top light) will not stay on. If I wiggle the connector on the back of the bulb it will turn on but when I hit a bump it will turn off.
Are those connectors just snap on? Or do they need to be twisted on and snapped? Has anyone else had this happen? What is the solution? Thanks! |
Snap. Its a known problem. They come lose around the connector.

what is the fix? what part is the problem area...when you say around the connector?? the two metal tabs area that snaps into the bulb?
|
The connector which is a silver box looking thing. Should have a ground wire coming off of the bottom. It just pushes on to the back of the bulb. On the part that connects to the bulb it should be round and thats where it becomes loose. Dont know if there is a fix besides a new one.

ok...
I see that the yellow wire on the passenger side (the one that works) connects to the silver part of the connector on the bottom... On my drivers side (the one that is not staying on) it does not connect and both sides of the yellow wire connect to the actual headlight housing... Is this my problem? I cant seem to disconnect the yellow wire from either side on the housing and see if it connects to the silver part of the connector... HELP! |
Bump, Im having an identical problem with my passenger side. Are the plugs themselves expensive/easy to get? I cant even get the headlight to fire up anymore! : (

yea i just changed my bulbs today to 8k ones and now my lights r flickering on and off.. was just my passenger side at first but now its my driver side too.. im goin to fix it n the morning so ill let u know how it goes
|
so it was 100% faulty bulbs on my end... i had 2 extra sets of stock bulbs and they work fine.. i even have an extra set of headlamps so i know its not them too..
told the vendor on here i bought them from and he sending me new set for free.. pretty ****ty to do all that work just to install some faulty bulbs...just to have to do it again.. |
The part is a matsu****a ignitor . the connector is know to go bad . They go from the ballast to the bulb . They also push on and twist to lock . The price of a new one is usually around 15 dollars from ebay or theretrofitsource . To change just unscrew and clip from the ballast pull it out of the headlight and put the new one in . Takes around 1-2 minutes to change once the headlights are out .
