G35 have HID's rite? Not very bright...
So... I haven't really cared but I was wondering to know the G35 has HID head lights right?? I mean stock.. My Evolution had HID's and they were so bright and they had like a rainbowish glow on the lights, not very good at explaining lights but it was very bright.
The G35 has HID's as well I'm sure because it's not like those dull normal headlights but it's kinda blueish the light is it because my bulbs got changed? The rainbowish thing I'm talking about is probably projectors which my 04 G does not have. If I replace the bulbs can it be a bit brighter?... |
if you just want your light output to be brighter go with 6000K or lower...or just take out your bulbs and scrape off the glare strip on them or just buy some ds2 bulbs which dont have the glare strip on it like our d2r bulbs do.
even the 06 projectors arent that great the lenses are hazed unlike evo clear sheilds..so you dont get the same light output and you get no flicker or color change...if you want the same output as your evo retrofit some tsx projectors into the stock housings..also dont forget to scrape off the glare strip on your stock bulbs or buy some new ds2 bulbs for the tsx projectors. |
ok sounds good.. very well explained..
me scraping something off the stock bulbs may damage the bulbs? not sure... but if i were to purchase 6k bulbs might be a bit brighter do you know what temp the stock ones are? i may just buy the ds2 bulbs. |
6000K not = upgrade in brightness.
You might want to look into "lumens" for HID bulbs. |

There is some color change, as there is still a blue line on the wall, and in a reflection on a glass wall, I noticed a bright blue tint at some angles. It just isn't as pronounced/defined as the S2000/TSX type non-fresnal lenses. |

Might not be as "flashy" as an S2000/TSX projector, but it's still a billion times better than the stock units. |
Its still spelled right, correct?

I wouldn't be so bold as to say the 06' projectors suck. They are pretty good actually. (Some would argue color shift in the cutoff is actually a sign of inferior design). I say they don't suck, because I also have an 05' TL, and like I said the light output is almost exactly identicle, including the small color shift at the cutoff. Since I have an 05' TL, I've also driven TSX loaners. The light output is not any better. The only difference is the color at the cutoff is more noticeable. But as far as how it lights up the road, I couldn't tell any difference. If anything, having Bi-xenons is actually better, because then your brights are still focused projector xenons, instead of halogen like on the TSX. |
There's a good post on HIDplanet comparing the output of TSX vs TLs on the same car at the same time. The guy put a piece or cardboard in between the lights, so you don't get one side shining onto the other.
The TLs were clearly brighter. In my testing in my living room, in stock form, TSX is wider, sharper, but less bright. TLs are brighter, less sharp, especially at the edges of the beam pattern. TLs with clear lens is sharper than TSX's even with custom shields. Fortunately I got the best of both worlds with those projectors now. |
Bottom line, if you got balls, open up your 06's, do the washer mod, remove the fresnel lens and add a clear lens. There you go, you have yourself a set of some sick bi-xenons.
