I have looked at so meany different tail light mods and im trying to find somthing new. I want them black but they still need to be red for DOT. So what do you guys think of this?

Now im going to put the red covers back on top of them so all the LEDs will still light up red but the tails will be black. I might put some halos in there while there open

I believe another member did this as well although it's very hard to tell they are black once the red lenses are back on. I'd recommend finding clear lenses if posssible (I've been wanting to do clear ones for some time, similar to the Range Rovers taillights) but I'm not sure if it's possible.

Some one did it I know they wont be black but they will be much darker, and it wont dim the LEDs.

I'm guessing these aren't sealed the same way as headlights, so did you take a small drill saw to it?

could you check a local plastic place or body shop (maybe you can even do it since you work in paint) if they have some sort of similar grade plastic in clear and then bend/cut it exact and replace the red covers? I'd buy a set from you if you could.
