fchdx's Build Thread (Lots of Pictures)
Hello driver!
I've always wanted to make one of these, and now that I have some spare time, here is my never-ending build thread for my money vacuum, a 2004 Infiniti G35 6MT!
My first G35 was actually an 2005 5AT IP, and I bought it around September 2011. Here is a picture of it (never really did much to it; black vinyl roof, Nismo diffuser, springs, minor cosmetic changes here and there.)
I've always liked IP. It was a very unique color and you would hardly ever see an IP G35 driving around, since you would mostly see DG. However, I learned how to drive manual during this time on a RSX and fell in love. I began looking around for 6MTs and found one online for around 12k with 80k miles. I had 65k miles on my IP so I traded it in and got some extra cash on the side.
Here is a picture of it online
The night I got it, I slapped on the diffuser right away, and the next morning I brought it to my friend's house for a full detail. I also took off the "G35" to make the rear more "symmetrical"
Oh yeah, it came with stock 350z 17's... Lol. Needed to get rid of these ASAP. This picture was after I got 20% tint on the sides and rear and got lowered on Eibach Prokits.
At this time, I spent a huge amount of time comparing debadged trunks and seeing what I liked. I was stuck between debadging it all or leaving it as it was. Since I didn't debadge my IP, I felt adventurous and took it all off. I also get my roof vinyl'd black, just like I had my IP.
Wheels! I found a great deal off of CL for some 19 inch Varrstoens ES4 powdercoated black with tires. This was right after I got them; I put them in front of my stock wheels and they seems to fill the wheel well quite nicely!
Side by side view; what a difference.
I was super preoccupied with school and work at the time so I wasn't able to put the wheels on until about a month later. Still needed a bigger drop and an alignment.
Nasty wheel gap.
Changed my springs to eibach sportlines and slapped on a roof visor
Didn't really have a budget at the time for any huge mods, and my friend recommended me to get my taillights tinted so I caved in and got some 35% taillight vinyl
Got featured on carswithoutlimits though, so that was pretty neat. Taillights look extremely dark in this picture but in reality they weren't that dark. I have another picture later showing how they really looked like.
Popcharger, plenum spacer, and throttle body spacer installed!
Some more pictures of the car at that stage.
Here is the picture that I mentioned earlier, showing how the taillights really looked like in person. I thought they didn't look too bad.
Swapped out my trunk for a spoilerless trunk with local member! I've always liked the clean look over the iron board spoiler.
Traded my reflectors for projectors with captain supreme sausage. Can't believe I didn't do this mod earlier. If you're 03-05 and haven't done this yet, I highly recommend it. The difference in light output and appearance is absolutely phenomenal.
A picture of my car after a nice wash and wax.
At this point I got a new job that allowed me to have a larger disposable income so I bought a HKS exhaust and slapped it on there. Sounds great, and I still currently have it on my car.
Found a local member who was parting ways with his CS rear, and it happened to be in DG so I hopped on that deal quick. Installed it the day I got it and really liked how it looked. It even came with the carbon fiber diffuser! The paint match isn't that great though but it isn't noticeable unless in direct sunlight. I also removed the taillight tint at this time because I got tired of the look.
Side profile shot!
I also picked up a poly Kumura Z front bumper from Chris at Outcast Garage.
Test fitting
Got it painted in 3 days! Installed it and what a difference it makes! Here is a side by side shot with my stock front bumper and my Kuruma.
Brought the car out for a photoshoot. I'm really starting to like how my car is looking.
Picked up a FG strafe trunk from Chris, and got it painted in less than 24 hours! The body shop I went to is called Adonai Body Works in Costa Mesa, California. If you're in the area, tell him Chris with the grey G35 sent ya and he'll hook you up!
Test fitting the trunk
What my car looks like now; still need to go out and have another shoot with it. Once I do, I'll definitely update this thread!
Hope you enjoyed my build thread! It isn't much, but I will definitely be adding onto this as time progresses!
Up next for my car
- Side skirts (Greddy?)
- New hood?
- Coilovers
- SSR's!
Comments and suggestions and questions are welcome

The quality is pretty good actually! Fitment's great (but it'll probably vary from bumper to bumper). You don't have to be worried about scrapage or anything either unlike the front bumper so I'd recommend FG. Go for it!

Yeah they're huge LOL sorry I thought that they'd resize by themselves once I posted it on the forum
My IP was a 5AT so I swapped it out for a 6MT
