qs regarding painting the grille matte black

Dont mean to hijack ur build thread...im just looking for some feedback on the proper process of painting my grill matte black from some 1 who has done it.

I had my mechanic paint it black a while back, but due to the excessive stone chips, the grill is starting to look pretty bad.

so my question is wht steps or products should i use to get a matte black look (not glossy) and what can i do to protect from stone chips (my mechanic says to put few coats of clear coat), but that would make it glossy rite..?

any feedback would be really helpful

BTW nice progress on the transformation of ur coupe

there is a few KEY things.
1. Scotch bring the crap out of it. make sure that there is no shiny spots.
2. Degrease it so you have a good non contaminated base.
3. Get GOOD quality paint. mine is auto body grade and $15 a can
4. Many many light coats so u don't developer runs.
5. Did it at my buddies body shop so it baked in the booth.

sry i should have said, im not an expert @ all wen it comes to painting...lol
i think i get the basic idea, so using scotch brite i go to town with it until no more shiny spots. degrease it and then apply a good quality paint.
Now will this survive the stone chips or do i need some thing for that..?

and thanks

no way to avoid chips, just keep that can handy for touch ups. rocks will mess anything up
