Holy crap! Did they forget it was in the oven!?

guitarrocker98 03-31-2014 01:54 AM

Holy cow.... You don't have to bake, you can use a heat gun as well.

JOKER 03-31-2014 02:07 AM

haaaaaaaa, you must have used waaaaaaaaaaay to much olive oil.

dukehotty 03-31-2014 02:07 AM

Thanks for sharing. That SUCKS!!! Glad it was only one headlight.

faiz23 03-31-2014 09:26 AM

That should buff right out. Good thing it's all intact or you would've had to bust out the bondo.

Syl_Man 03-31-2014 11:44 AM

I stripped a screw head on the thermostat housing while trying to switch that out. Just want to say it was a nightmare!!!!! Got it switched though.

Cux350z 03-31-2014 12:11 PM

Wow. They must have really messed up.

How long did they bake, what temp, on broil or something?

ResurrectionG35 03-31-2014 12:20 PM

thank god it wasn't projectors

Bake @350. Five minutes.

Cux350z 03-31-2014 12:36 PM

that's the problem. 200-250 for 10 minutes is more then adequate.

baking at 350 for 5 is being lazy and trying to expedite it...with horrible results.

keep the lens away from upper heat element. no broil function. preheat.

jkuo 03-31-2014 03:33 PM

I've always done 8-10 minutes at 225. I've heard people do 350, but turn the oven off when they put the light in. I just feel safer at 225 and I've never had an issue.

ScraggleRock 03-31-2014 03:57 PM

Time to upgrade..haha

Thanks for the tips but it's too late lol. Those were spares. The ones I have now are perfect. V2s

JKL1031 04-01-2014 12:59 PM

Wow mann. Food doesn't cook under 300F, I guess its true for headlamps too.

saywat? 04-02-2014 09:25 PM

lmao I guess someone or someones "friend" don't read diy's too well . btw I wouldn't use a heat gun. very difficult to do it that way. I tried it bc my oven was broken. never again. oven is the way to go

herrschaft 04-02-2014 10:02 PM

^Did you try the microwave? The toaster may work too.

saywat? 04-02-2014 10:12 PM

^try harder

herrschaft 04-02-2014 10:22 PM

What are you yapping about, it works perfectly...
