I don't want to Drift

I just purchased a 2004 Coupe and am experiencing some "issues" that I did not expect or desire. I feel that the previous owner did some things (upgrades... or IMO *downgrades) that make the car drive rough, use more gas and just overall take away from the "luxury" of it. For instance, my car constantly sounds like its tightly wound. In other words its loud, like a lawn mower sound. Im sure I probably have purchased a car that was used for drifting and all I really want is a fast, smooth, quiet, luxury car. Any ideas on what has my car sounding like it is wound tight (this is literally the best way I know to describe how it sounds). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Do you know what he has added? You may be able to make some money demodding it.

video of the sound? pictures of the car? a vague description does us no good in trying to help you figure out whats on it.

like thegreatkwijibo said. take some pics. it might be something like an exhaust or could be engine mods. if its loud usually they have added an exhaust component. but hard to say without seeing the car.

Did you test drive the car before buying it? If you don't like it, why did you buy it?

Sounds like

Exhaust, you should start learning about cars now that you have one of the best vehicles ever made

yes I did drive it and I like the car and that's why i bought it. Just like when someone bought the car before me they bought it knowing they were going to change some things. There are many more things I love about the car to not have bought it over something that can be fixed. I have had some suggestions offline that I have taken into consideration but I figured since this is a forum especially for G35 drivers who seem to love their car and to talk about it as well that I would ask you. Now, do you have any suggestions for me? Or nah?

No clue. I will take and post pics/ video when I get time. Just figured this was the best place to find experienced G35 owners and maybe someone could go by my description.

I will try to get some on here later. Thanks for your help.

I actually know a pretty good amount about cars. really not much about Drifting or those type of modifications. Love a fast, luxury car but never been into the "fast and furious" upgrades. That is all. I do love my G35 though. It's badazz

If you know a good amount about cars then look under the rear of your car at your diff bushing. Could be an SPL solid bushing causing the "tight" feeling and making you "drift" more when turning.

If your bushing is black and leaking its most likely stock.

Sure, if its loud exhaust, find a stock exhaust system.
You didnt do a very good job describing these "issues". What exactly is "tightly wound"?
Is the suspension stock? Aftermarket springs/ coilovers could make it drive "bad". As mentioned above, poly bushings can tighten things up a bit. Are the gears in the rear end stock ratio? That could cause higher cruising RPMs which is the closest thing to "tightly wound" I can think of.
Post pictures, and go into some detail if you want help.
