LowCoupe progress log
So I had a KYO 04 Coupe for about a year. I hit a pole and totalled that in November (R. I. P.) (Pictures thanks to my friend, Jacob Probst)
https://i665.photobucket.com/albums/...8193291732.jpg https://i665.photobucket.com/albums/...8193299549.jpg https://i665.photobucket.com/albums/...8193294456.jpg https://i665.photobucket.com/albums/...8193297027.jpg So I decided to stay with the VQ family and build another G35 coupe. The new one is DG (which is my favorite color for the G) I figured I'd make a progress log of this one and all the mods that go into it. :) Purchased 12/12/2017 2004 Diamond Graphite Metallic Infiniti G35, 6MT, Brembo, Navigation, tan leather interior, aero package. 125k miles, bone stock https://i665.photobucket.com/albums/...213_081250.jpg As soon as I got the car home I felt the need to change the oil, after finding a "Service Champ" oil filter installed, I knew I had to change all the fluids immediately . -Fresh Mobil1 Oil change/Mobil1 filter -Preston Coolant -Nissan GLE-4 MTF -Fresh power steering, brake and clutch fluid. Along with the fluids came silicone hoses all around from Z1, a braided stainless steel clutch line and braided brake lines. Thanks to my parents for some awesome Christmas gifts. Lol. https://i665.photobucket.com/albums/...229_143331.jpg After that oil change, I knew the under tray was gonna drive me crazy, so I grabbed a ZSPEED aluminum undertray. My God, that's a gorgeous piece https://i665.photobucket.com/albums/...225_153452.jpg https://i665.photobucket.com/albums/...225_152040.jpg Next up, to increase the efficiency of the braking system under heavy load, I had to pick up the Z1 master cylinder brace. It made more of a difference than I could have imagined. Money well spent! https://i665.photobucket.com/albums/...225_123707.jpg https://i665.photobucket.com/albums/...225_123710.jpg Today 1/2/18, my EBC blackdash rotors came in. I still need to decided what pads I want to run with these. I can't wait to get them on though! https://i665.photobucket.com/albums/...102_175758.jpg 2-26-2018 I picked up some goodies for the build today! First up, Motordyne ART Pipes! I've been dying to get a set of these. https://i665.photobucket.com/albums/...226_231221.jpg The other purchase was a new set of Hotchkis Sway Bars! 😄😄 These should help in the corners a bit. Beefy little things! https://i665.photobucket.com/albums/...226_231158.jpg 3-1-2018 My P2M endlinks have arrived 😄 https://i665.photobucket.com/albums/...1_185355_1.jpg 3-4-2018 ART pipes are on and they sound phenomenal! I'm just waiting for my Circuit Werks Y-pipe to get here and my exhaust will be complete. https://i665.photobucket.com/albums/...303_163510.jpg I got my Hotchkis Sway bars and P2M endlinks on. Installation was a piece of cake and the difference is night and day. She holds the road much better now. I couldn't be happier 😀 https://i665.photobucket.com/albums/...303_192504.jpg https://i665.photobucket.com/albums/...303_192507.jpg https://i665.photobucket.com/albums/...303_203015.jpg https://i665.photobucket.com/albums/...303_203028.jpg 3-8-2018 My Circuit Werks Resonated Y-pipe came in today, so that quickly got installed (I'm impatient). It really cut down on the rasp and drone, I'm in love with this exhaust. Such a gorgeous piece. It created a much deeper tone in the exhaust. https://i665.photobucket.com/albums/...308_183927.jpg https://i665.photobucket.com/albums/...308_191532.jpg https://i665.photobucket.com/albums/...308_191536.jpg Also, Me and my buddy Jake got my JDM Brake/clutch master cylinder cover (mostly) installed. They should've come like this from the factory. http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/v...308_202220.jpg 04-11-18 Just a little update. Coilovers, toe/camber arms are all cleaned up. Brake setup is ready to go on (braided stainless lines aren't in the pic), new Tires are mounted and balanced,. I'm ready to see how good she looks! Also, I've started swapping the black leather interior over, while I had that gutted, I replaced all the speakers with JL Audio C2-650 Speakers and tied them to a Rockford Fosgate amplifier. The sound is incredible! The difference between the C2's and the factory Bose speakers is humorous. http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/v...411_223146.jpg http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/v...324_110609.jpg http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/v...324_123043.jpg http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/v...324_110619.jpg http://i665.photobucket.com/albums/v...324_123053.jpg |
Nice looking start, can't wait to see more.
However, I would -really- suggest to not side-jack the vehicle like that and instead use the factory lift points. If you're too low to get a low profile jack under then grab a 2x6, cut it into 24" pieces and angle one end with a sander so you can drive up on them for an extra 1.5" of clearance. |
Normally I wouldn't do that but I use a special jack Puck that spreads the contact area a bit. No crushed pinch welds or floor boards. Lol. I'm pretty conscious of things like that.

Picked up some new goodies today 😄😄😄

Cool. Always excited to see parts go on. Good luck with your modifications.

Please tell me you put a jack stand under the car before you started working on it. Looks like you've got a good start on the new ride, did you have a chance to keep your old wheels? I loved them on the first coupe. Also I'll never understand why Infiniti put tan interiors on grey/silver cars, it just doesn't fit or make any sense.
Keep up the good work! |
Damn that is a perfect drop you had on your old coupe. What size were those tires and were u on springs or coilovers? BTW, those are some killer rotors u got for the new one. |

Exhaust is DONE!.... Unless I decide to get headers. 🤔
|
Tires mounted, it's almost time to make her pretty!
|
Good progress. Glad to see a G getting love. What's wrong with Side jacking the G? It's stiff AF! Put stands under the body by the pinch welds I see no problem.
|
Glad to see some good parts being put on the car. Looking good man. I need brakes soon, and I'm really liking those rotors, might have to scoop me some.
