DPE R05 Variant S Titanium Asphalt on DG

1 Attachment(s)
Finally got them in. James from Creative and Mike from DPE mounted them in a parking lot in the dark! Then they fit all four of the oem 18's in my car without damaging a thing. Amazing! Rear is rubbing like crazy need a more neg camber alignment or roll/cut fenders are on the horizon...
19x8 245/35/19 and 19x10 275/35/19 Will post offsets when I find out.

More pics to come after I get my car back from the body shop. Sorry about the crappy quality, need to borrow the woman's cam.

TwoK4drSi 08-26-2005 01:19 PM

More pics! Looks badass so far. Hows the ride on the HKS?

BrianlG35C 08-26-2005 01:28 PM

Congrats! Looks great and welcome to the DPE club.

G35pm 08-26-2005 01:35 PM

Thanks. HKS rides pretty good. I've got mine set at about med stiffness. Handles great. Rides nice, except on really bad roads (e.g. downtown San Diego). Sill have a little more body roll than I want. But I think I can't stop this w/out stiffening the sways or springs, which I don't want to do.

RashMan1450 08-26-2005 01:43 PM

You have a 19x8 in the front? omg it looks soo much wider than an 8. I have the same setup as well. I rub like crazy also, i decided to just roll the fender so i could save tire tread

mad props man, it looks real good. i didnt expect those wheels to look good but you know wat they do.

good job

G35pm 08-26-2005 01:53 PM

Thanks Rash. I wanted a 19x9 in the front but wasn't crazy about the $300 extra per wheel just to get that width.

I think the rims look wider since the polished lip extends all the way to the inside edge of the rim.

nerdspeed 08-26-2005 03:22 PM

how'd they fit the stocks in the car???

Lots of cardboard pieces to line the interior. One in the front seat, two on top of the folded down backseat, one in the trunk.

Triple8Sol 08-26-2005 09:45 PM

Just like McDonald's...I'm lovin' it...

Sponger 08-26-2005 10:30 PM

Congrats Josh! Well worth the wait. Can't wait to seem them next Tuesday.

Pathis 08-26-2005 10:32 PM

Looks good man! I really like the style of those rims

gnut 08-27-2005 01:27 AM

Those are badass! More pictures and close up please. This is one of the rims I am considering.

truplay8 08-27-2005 01:52 AM

CarFanatic56 08-27-2005 02:13 AM

mrjonang 08-27-2005 05:33 AM

DPEs look nice

TwoK4drSi 08-27-2005 07:29 PM

Better pics!

RashMan1450 08-27-2005 07:59 PM

Yea it is possible to fit all four stock wheels with the tires in a coupe. Only one thing, you cant have any passengers.

But yea back to your wheels again. So they said only $300? i bet the reason why its soo expensive is they dont want to make a new program to make for the wheels

But again love the drop and the wheels. Welcome to the DPE family

98intrigue 09-07-2005 01:13 AM

Congrats on the wheels. I believe we are the only ones so far with the R05 Variant S wheels. I would really like to see some more pictures :)

G35pm 09-07-2005 01:41 AM

I'd like to show you guys more pics, but I'm having a nightmare with getting sides and a rear bumper put on and painted. I'm supposed to have the car back Mon (marking 3 weeks), no exceptions. We'll see...

escobar929 09-07-2005 02:10 AM

is that the impul rear??? looks nice

G35pm 09-25-2005 03:26 PM

Thanks. Impul replica rear and sides...

Jeez something is wrong with the site, have to wait at least 5 min to load another pic.

CarFanatic56 09-25-2005 03:53 PM

looks good.....where did you get your replica Impul?...so fitment was a nightmare with them?

G35pm 09-25-2005 04:03 PM

The nightmare had to do with the shop itself, they got backed up with their painter. Then he decided to start his own shop. Ended up getting my front bumper refinished(to take out rock chips)/repainted for free. Quality was a bit of an issue on one of the sides. On some areas they needed to be beefed up a bit. Fitment really wasn't an issue.

Looks awesome! I think it was a mistake that we posted pictures of our wheels... our wheels won't be so exclusive anymore since everyone seems to be liking the setup.

Haha, thanks. Well, I think the price and wait weeds out some people.

Picked up the kit from another member on the forum who decided to go with the Burnout kit. He says he got it from the "place" that supplies to 350forums.

The shop said fitment was pretty good especially the rear. It's just that the sides were a bit thin in some areas.

I saw your car at the turbonetics open house. the wheels look a whole lot better in person. I like it.

Sponger 09-27-2005 09:27 PM

man, that looks like $hit!

Just kidding Josh :D :D Looks good!! Can't wait to see it tonight.

turbomaxima 09-28-2005 08:42 AM

RST531 09-28-2005 02:04 PM

I saw your car too at the turbonetics open house, and they look really great in person. I see you also too those pixs in the end of the street from turbonetics.

bzabodyn 10-15-2005 05:14 PM

still can't believe these so-called custom wheel manufacturer's can't get wheels to bolt on without rubbing (with only 275's at that) - I have 285's on 10.5" wheels and lowered an inch and have ZERO rubbing issues...

http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...80_40_full.jpg

but I do have to say I'm still jealous of those wheels - I really want to powdercoat my wheels a dark charcoal metallic now...

Yea...I would figure they would have the offsets down. They rubbed and there is a little too much clearance on the brembos. My old GT-7s just barely cleared and didn't rub at all (10.5 in the back). I suppose I do have room if I ever want to upgrade the brakes..

Your Winnings look good.
