Here are my 20 X 9 and 20 X 10.5 Hre 540 Standard lip wheels. 2" front lip, and 4" rear lip. They are satin charcoal in color, and have michelin pilot sport PS2 tires. 255/35 & 285/30

I know the wheels are Hre's but im not feeling it IMO  . I think that's just me, i was planning on getting these wheels too! The color of the wheels look great on your ride!

It's not enough lip, especially for those widths.

Nonetheless, sick rims though, compliment your car nicely.

looks good to me. What's your drop and are your fenders rolled? Still wondering how some people get away with 285's???

sngpimpin Jan 28, 2006 09:41 PM

it is a 4" lip...help me understand why that does not seem big. i had to cut my axles and fenders to get these things in there.

perhaps since it is a step lip it isn't as long?

the wheels match your car color well

After looking extremely closely I realized that's what it is, the step lip makes it seem like it's only a tiny lip. I bet in real life it doesn't give that illusion.

Never seen stepped lips before, or maybe I haven't noticed them....is that an HRE thing?

Cut your axles??

how much did you pay for those rims ?

protocav Jan 29, 2006 01:28 AM

any wheel manufacturer will make a standard lip wheel, but everyone is doing the reverse lip now, and it is more popular. i wanted to do something a little different, and i think the standard (step) lip looks a little racier. the wheels i was replacing are reverse lip.

i had to trim the axle stubs to clear the caps, since the backpads are so low. i wanted the lips as big as possible.

I work for HRE as a mechanical engineer, and I handle the fitments. i created this fitment to be very aggressive, but not rub in the front. i knew that i would have to cut the fenders and axles. Since i work there, the price was lower than normal.

Didn't know there was an HRE factory down in SD. Looks great btw!

You really need to see these in person. The finish and quality are so nice. Looks badass.
