SDz33's G sedan body makeover thread

Hi all, this thread is going to follow the progression of the body work and repaint of my car... I am doing this completely on my own and will serve as a learning experience as I go along...

I am by no means a Pro/Vet in the autobody/refinishing trade....... YET :D.... but I'm well on my way and I love doing this for a living and learning more and more as each day comes...

The completion of the project will take a while due to me only being able to work on the car about 5 hours a day, 3 days a week...

My plans are:
To eliminate all of the little dings here and there
Shave the emblems and fill in the little holes in the trunk
Molded trunk lip
Pull/flare out the fenders on all four corners a tad bit(maybe even a radius since I'm gonna stick to 20's from now on but still not completely sure just yet)
Fillin the holes where the sidemarkers go
Wald front lip and sides(still undecided on a rear bumper/lip yet)
Paint all the chrome, OB(KH3)
Paint the entire car with a fresh coat of OB(KH3)

On to the pics...

Fixed a couple of dings

Filled in the holes where the sidemarker went with kitty-hair and fiberglass mat... It's not done just yet, I left it unfilled at the end so I can shape it to the fenders when they are done...

It's a bad angle in the pic, but the car looked sooo good as I was walking towards it and had to snap a pic... lol

Dings, dings, and more dings.... GRRRRRRRRR lol

Don't know why these pics came out rotated, but if you flip them, you get the idea, haha

The beginning of the fender pull/flare on the driver side... If you look on the pics above, you can see that the fender was a little bent out of shape... What had happened was that I was tucking tire and backing up on a small slope and the tire caught my fender and pulled it inwards... I just grabbed a fender roller and did what I could at the moment asap...

Once again, don't know why this one is rotated either, haha

What I did here was cut into the fender a bit and flare it out a little and weld it back up... Note: I am by no means a good welder, but this will do for now, lol... My welder buddy was out of town so I had to take matters into my own hands!

A little Marglass to build up and smooth down! I love this stuff!!!

This is the first sanding with 80 grit, I should have started with 36 grit, but I didn't want to knock too much off as I still need to fill in some low spots on the right side of the fender, and I still need to hammer in some high spots and hammer out some low spots...

That's all I was able to get done today, but I will update this thread more as I go along... Thanks for viewing!

Questions, comments, concerns, and critics are welcomed!
Also if you have any tips or tricks to share, PLEASE feel free, as this is also a learning experience... Thanks!

nice keep up the good work...prepare to not go so low if you have wald sides...i have them and if i went down another inch and half it would be scraping the ground

Thanks brother

That's what I have been reading on here, that Wald sides sit pretty low, which kind of works out for me beacuse I'm already pretty low on 20's and I kind of didn't want to go any lower and tuck wheel... Therefore, a fender radius was going to be my only solution... But thanks for confirming that for me!

Mind if I ask where you got the Wald sides from?

So I've decided to just tackle the rears since I think it will be much faster to finish... I started to flare out the rear driver side, but I haven't welded it yet because I'm still deciding how far out/big I want the flare to be... I will weld it 2moro and will post pics...

The pics kind of suck because of the light that comes into the shop, it's an iphone, I'm not a good photographer, etc... :icon17:
