UnderNothing's G35 Sedan Build

When i was in High School which was like last year :icon17: I always enjoyed the way my mother's 2004 burgundy G35 Sedan looked. it saddened me to see it go through so much abuse not being taken care of, not getting the love it deserves, and just overall not being maintained. a few months ago i decided to purchase the car for a reasonable price from her. As a new G35 owner i decided to let you guys in on my journey on the G35 Sedan build.

as you can see the bumper was being held by zip ties on the bottom where my license plate and just looked overall beat as well as paint marks on my left side bumper

side view of my car, you can't see it from here but my dad went to san francisco to see his girlfriend without me knowing he took my car and i guess drama happened and she took out all the anger on my car and ended up keying my driver side door and a bit of the passenger door as well and also the rear side panel just above the gas tank as you can see. Also there are really deep scratches on the rear bumper just above the license plate.

with a bit of researching i wanted to lower my car without having to change my struts/shocks or having to buy a camber kit and came across the unrevised 350z springs. its ok so far but i know ill be planning on going lower in the near future.

replacing the oem g35 bumper i always loved the nismo front bumpers and i just knew i had to get one.

so i didnt like how the front grill emblem was chrome so i decided to plasti-dip it... while i was plasti-dipping i also noticed some chrome inside the housing of the headlights and thought that it would look a lot nicer if it was blacked out. so i took apart the headlights and this was the finished product.

the story continues, :)

So, its been a while since i updated you guys with my progress on my 2003 G35 Sedan Garnet Fire. Where we left off was during the periods of time when my car was nearly stock. i believe all i had done was the Nismo Front bumper, Stock 350z springs, and blacked out housing headlights.

beginning of 2015 i decided to get a new pair of wheels and i know they're reps but i loved how they sat on my car. i decided to get a set of Str 524 18x9 +15 offset all around sitting on 255/35/18 & 265/35/18 tires . i also ended up repainting my car garnet fire, i didnt have enough to paint the roof and hood but i think i might just get that wrapped.

Attachment 189801

i was tired of seeing such a big wheel gap, even though the stock 350z springs lowered my cars a couple inches, it wasn't satisfying me.... so i decided to pick up a set of Cx racing coilovers and oh did i get the bang for my buck. i also installed a megan racing exhaust that i got from a good friend of mine and love the sound...it's much like the g35 coupe exhaust but a bit more deeper and aggressive.

i ended up seeing a great deal on a set of discontinued 3 pce ssr vf1 18x9 +38 wheels, and i knew i couldn't miss the opportunity to get them, so i ended up purchasing them. it can definitely use a rebuild, but as of right now im not quite sure if i want to rebuild them or just resell them. i also ended up removing the emblems for a clean smooth look and loved how it turned out.

Good luck with the build, love the front bumper.

Your car looks good so far. I too wanted a minor drop for my coupe. I purchased a set of tanabe lowering springs. They drop my car an inch in the front and .6 inches in the rear. My coupe has 34,000 miles on it and my drop isn't sever so, I'm using the factory struts and shocks. I've went this route on a previous coupe I've owned so I know the outcome will be beautiful. Now, I'm just waiting for better weather to install my springs.

Sucks to hear about the key damage, but you got a nice start so far. I'm pretty jealous you got GF.

The color is called Garnet Fire, or GF for short. It was the color I really wanted, but the only one I was able to find was in pretty rough shape and had 200k on the Odometer. So I was saying I was jealous that you were lucky enough to get a red car.

Dad's a player! Awesome! He took your GF to see his GF.
I've been trying to convince my wife to let me have a side chick. ROFL, its not going too well... but I should be able to convince her soon enough.. it's been 10 years in training. ;)

thank you for not ricing it up. great start so far. don't over do things

Now take the dip off and paint it gloss black. I PROMISE you you'll like it more. It pops so much better.
So far so good though with everything else. Another solid option to look into would be OEM rays for wheels.

Haha its cool I don't even think about abbreviating the colors anymore. and my car is Brilliant Silver so my abbreviation is even funnier.

ahhh i see what you mean... well right now my main concern is trying to hide the rock chips that show from the hood and as well as the different tones of color from the hood and bumper since the front bumper is fresh paint. i was planning on doing a carbon fiber wrap for the hood and as well as the trunk, but im still debating i dont wanna rice it out. it'll kinda look like this:

Attachment 189753

With the wheels i actually like the volk te37s a lot and might get the reps, the varrstoen es2.

btw thegreatkwijibo i noticed you put a crown royal shift boot on your automatic g35 can you show me a picture how that looks like? i have a crown royal bag laying around.

thegreatkwijibo May 1, 2014 01:05 AM

well just my opinion, but for the hood go with actual carbon fiber my uncle put a bunch of cf wrap on his camaro and it looks like sh!t. its warped and you can tell from a mile away that its a wrap. as far as the wheels its a big debate on here, but to me I would say just save up for some actual TE's or maybe check out Gram Lights which has similar 6 spoke wheels that are a bit less expensive. but of course I'm one that is on the side of authenticity and quality
