If you only need the quarters done - and don't have money to burn/time to waste - you should stick to just the quarters. Prep them good, sand them down, bondo any dents and such as best you can. Make it nice as whatever surface is there will remain after all the hard work. Once you're ready prime and paint. I used PPG Shopline which is the cheaper paint I got hold of at a local paint supplier. The base coat was good as far as I can tell. Maybe a little thin, but nothing a few more coats couldn't help. Clearcoat I bought online from
https://www.southernpolyurethanes.com/products - fantastic prices and a great product - again....as far as I can tell from only doing this once. It's held up great over the past year, the standard orange peel once laid is not too bad and if you do decide to flatten it, it's very nice and glossy/rich.
