    Alright, I've been sittin here thinkin about this... and it seems totally do-able...

    Using some type of 1/16" hardwood sheet, I plan to cut out templates of the overall shape, and glue/press them together veneer style. The trick is gonna be that I'll alternate the grain of the pattern to run parallel with the grip, and then parallel with the stock, etc... I think that this would give plenty of strength in all directions.

    After letting this blank stock cure for a while... I can take my time trimming and shaving and shaping everything... then a uerethane topcoat and voila!

    If I get to do this, I'll be sure to keep pics along the way...

    I love the look of the wood on my 870... but I want a more tactical, pistolgripped stock, and a shortened forend.
    My 870


    Has anyone made their own custom tactical wood stock for an 870? I am not looking for the thumbhole style, more like a shortened regular stock, with a distinct pistol grip in it...
