G35 - First non-V8 car I've owned

Hello all,

Been lurking for a while now, and finally created an account to express my opinion of this car and the contrast between it and my previous vehicles.

About a month ago I purchased an '05 G35 Coupe 5AT with 22k miles.

I have always owned "American muscle cars"...a Trans Am, two Z28's, and have loved them for what they are - bang for the buck performance. This model car is all I have driven for 13 years, and I know them like the back of my hand - every nuance. As daily drivers I didn't mod beyond intake bolt-ons and fairly tame sounding cat-backs. This is where I'm coming from...

I never would have thought I'd purchase a Japanese car. I have just grown up a GM (chevy) guy loathing all that is ricer - and Ford for that matter.

Then I got married. I was getting tired of the F-body. The only plus anymore was the sick torque and kind of feeling like an under dog with a car worth $5k owning most new sports cars off the line. Which was starting to seem lame to me as I approach 30 years old.

So I spent 3 months researching various cars. What got me interested in the G35 vs others in its class is the RWD, and the refined, ultra-sexy look - what sold me on it was driving it! :driving:

This car is simply amazing! It's fun to drive AT ALL TIMES...not just when you're flooring it. This was what has always been missing from my driving experience and what I was looking for! Add to that the gorgeous wood paneling and black leather and this silver G gives me butterflies whenever I think about it.

A few days ago as I was telling my wife something about the G she told me to "get over your car already". :D

If that day comes it won't be any time soon.

My only regret is not getting the 6mt, but that was my wife's only stipulation.

There's a great community here and I look forward to participating and learning more in the future.

Welcome! If she complains about you talking about your car, tell her if you can trade your 5AT in for a 6MT that you'll never say another word... stipulation that!

thanks

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome :)

@chigga: yes, so sexy...you know when you park somewhere and as you're walking into the store you keep looking back to check her out?...yeah

@BlueDevil: haha...yeah...i do miss the 6spd from my last car, but it's probably for the best since my commute doesn't include any freeways and I average 20-25 mph. Still...<sigh>

My wife's stipulation was sedan, which I love anyway. Still talked up and got 6mt!

japanese are good in math...it basically explains everything they've designed.

In japan, do they still cut your fingers off if you get F on your report card? :D
