I'm doin' stuff to my coupe! Budget style.

First, I'd like to say that I love this forum. I should probably be Facebooking, or watching porn or something, but the truth is I'm addicted to G35Driver.

I've been in love with the g35 Coupe since the first one I saw in 2002. I drove my 97 Altima until it started falling apart last year. It was finally time to get a new ride. I took my Altima and 18K to a local ATL dealer and left with a 2005 DG G35 Coupe AT with 26000 miles. A touching story, I know... Moving on.

I'm doin' stuff my G! I figured I'd share.

I had an extra set of 03-05 headlights, so obviously I thought it was good idea to put them in my oven an see what's on the inside... I was unimpressed.

I didn't find any LEDs in there, so I figured I might as well add some. Then I thought, hell, I should make them a different color. Something crazy, like flat black!

Yeah yeah... I'm ten-thousandth one to do this, but try to pretend like you're interested.

==================================

Yanked the bezel out, and sanded it down with 400 grit.

I took 100 grit and sanded the ridges down on the inside down because I wanted smooth for some reason.

I used the epoxy resin goo (Bondo Bumper Repair Kit) to fill anything I missed while sanding the ridges.

Took 120 grit and sanded the epoxy down, and finished it off with 400 grit wet.

Innis & Gunn. Oak barrel aged smooth Scottish beer, with natural hints of toffee, vinilla, and oak.

Pre prime.

Post prime. Sand with 600 grit, prime, let dry, and repeat until smooth like my beer. Finish sand with 1000 grit.

Flat black coats come next.

That's all I could get done today. I'm going to try to finish tomorrow.

Hope it was worth the look. Stay tuned. Moar car horring to come.

Good idea bondo-ing the ridges. They're prone to cracking.

Damn beebs. I dont even know what to say to that.

Hah! Thanks guys.

I didn't finish the headlight on Sunday because I did my side markers instead. I'll post up some pics this afternoon.

Of all the headlights I've done (30+) I have never thought about sanding down the ridges, I hate sanding them though... maybe I'll give that a shot on my spare coupe lights.

I love the smooth look, but it's almost to subtle a difference for how much work it takes. I'm glad I did it, but that'll probably be the last time, lol.

Here are some pics of the side markers I finished yesterday. Now I just need to quit slacking on the headlight and finish them up.
