Bought 04' 6 speed manual Coupe this weekend

Hello... An executive at my company had it parked for over a year at our other office when the clutch went out. He had the clutch replaced in May and also the battery so I didn't know why it was parked. I've been asking for the last 4-5 months what his plans for it were but I didn't have room for another car so I never pressed. Two weeks ago I asked what's wrong with it and how much do you need for it. He's a great guy but one of the many who when something breaks they throw it away rather than enjoy the greatest feeling in the world, fixing things.
140,000 mi.,a bent rim, flat tire, sprayed coolant last time he started it, smelled like field mice, another tire about to blow, and just a bunch of little stuff. We were on the phone and i asked again. He said $1,500, I talked him into $1,300. I'm so friggin pumped and my wife, who drives an fx35 actually likes it.
I had the wheel fixed at a place in Dallas called 360 wheel repair for $90. I needed two rear tires and got a used set of 285/30/20 Michelin Pilot super sport's for $140 from Maldonado's Tires & Wheels on Garland Rd. That includes put on the wheel and balanced. Changed the small overflow hose a mouse chewed through and leak fixed. Removed the small rabbit living in front of the cooling fan. Sprayed out the engine area and power sprayed and cleaned the interior and so far so good. I still have belts, Oil, and other stuff to do but it's only been a week. The pick n Pull in Dallas has 3 locations with 5-7 salvaged so the interior will be pristine when I'm done.

Night we picked it up. I had left a charger on it overnight and about flipped when it turned right over. Drove it with the rotted tire up and on the trailer.

Cleaning out all his kids melted candy bars, shoes, spotting scope, random bullets, and trash.

You can see the repair to the bent rim on the 2 o'clock side of pic.

I research and read everything needed when working or fixing stuff so I'm sure I'll be using this site for best practices, suggestions, and owners experience. I'm not planning to do many updates but look forward to asking questions down the road when needed.

Wow congrats on the sweet deal, I die a little every time I see a G35 decaying somewhere. This brings me back to life.

OP great pick up! We are the premiere site for all things G, most questions you will think of have probably been answered multiple times over the years here. Read, read and read some more, we're glad you joined the fam.

Welcome and congrats on the sweet find. I'm fairly new myself, lots of good help to be had here. These are in their 16th year and a lot has already been discussed...

Hi Gill...
I used a banana to get him out. I had a backup plan if that didn't work but luckily it did.

Quick follow-up

I can't get away from this site. Whenever I search G35 issues, G35Driver to the rescue.

A couple updates..
  • Fuel showed empty - Cleaned both fuel sensors and rewired wires the mice ate through. Service engine is now off and fuel gauge works perfectly. Allowed me to get car inspected.
  • Replaced driver side hood hinge. $11 at Pick n Pull. Very easy to do but didn't like loosening fender to get done. Nervous about lines.
  • Replaced passenger seat, seat cover - PnP $7 - Pic below. Went with zip ties instead of hog wires. Worked perfectly.
  • Pulled large sound deadening carpet from back of Nissan Altima's at PnP. Used one to do entire trunk area and pulled rear seats and panels out to do that area. Trying to quiet the road noise a bit and also the sand and rocks from the big back tires. not 100% but it is quieter.
  • Replaced dash glove box and vent that covers DVD player for navigation. Old one was a little messed up and had found a perfect one.
  • Front wheel well plastic was missing 90% of little black removable plugs. I collect those little guys whenever I'm at PnP. Trunk lid of Mercedes are the best and easiest to use.
No plans for new mods... focused on fixing what's broke or stuff that irritates. Just enjoying driving it for now as all is working fine. Can add additional pics if needed.
