Anyone who's gotten ticketed in NJ....
So yeah, I was speeding and got caught today. I admit it yes, but certainly not the speed I was going - 56 in a 40. According to the officer sitting in his air conditioned patrol car behind a bush doing jack squat, "radar doesn't lie". I'm unsure how much it is at this point ($150?), but I do know it's 4 points in NJ - and I'm more worried about my insurance premium going up.
I plan on fighting it, as I have beaten a PA ticket successfully years ago. Just unsure how to go about doing it in NJ. For what it's worth I live in PA. Input anyone? Thanks in advance. |
From what I've heard...NJ is tough to get out of tickets. Try reading up on http://www.ticketassassin.com/ about some ideas
Best of luck |
Heard on the news today that there is a big push going on in Joisey to crack down on all infractions. Two years ago there was a crack down on just speeders, this one is everything.

Yeah yesterday on the way home from work there were 5 cops.
2 had pulled over a mustang 1 had his radar set on traffic a little further down. 2 even further down waiting on people to speed. This was on RT46 east bound right before Willowbrook Mall |
It looked like they were targeting the big rigs yesterday on the NJ Turnpike.
I saw four of them pulled over on the way to work. |
I think I've been to court about 12 times since getting my G. Without a lawyer, it's damn near impossible to get the ticket dismissed. Ever since they passed that stupid "Driving in an unsafe manner" law, prosecutors won't budge.
If it's your first ticket in NJ, just take that offer. It's about $450 in fines, but no points. You ain't gonna do much better without a lawyer. You can only plead that twice in a five year window. |
Most districts, no lawyer, no dismissal. They might give you a plea bargain, knock 2 points off, lessen the violation, increase the fine, but that's no guarantee. Just depends on how the court operates.

Damn. Sounds like I need to talk to my lawyer then for this one. It is my first ticket in NJ in about 4 years. The district is in Ewing Township if that means anything.
How convienient being the end of the month and the police having to meet their ticket quota, eh? |
wow, im going to take in slow july 6-7-8th when i roll down there, i dont need any tickets

I am waiting on the Mt. Olive court-date invitation for alleged 81 on 50 MPH. Can someone please recommend attorney for this court. Thanks

get a lawyer...thats really the only way u can get rid of all the points....u can get it knocked down to less point by yourself and a bigger fine but i think the only way to get all the points off is with a lawyer. that how i did it when i got 68 in a 40. oh and it doesnt hurt if u know some cops from that precinct either. a frien ended up knowing the cop who gave me the ticket so it worked out even better. but be prepared for them to jack up the fine pretty good.

Maybe I got lucky in NJ. I was on I-80 on my way to my aunts house in Succasunna (however it's spelt). I see a NJSP car pull up behind me. Couple a second later he hits the lights. I pull over and realize i'm on the shoulder just before the merge to exit 30 which is the one i need to get off at. The officer come up to me tells me i was doing 85mph. Asks where i'm going and asks for my license, registration and insurance. He goes back to do his thing. Comes back up to my car and said to me "Look since you're so close to where you need to go i'm going to give u a warning. Just don't speed around here again cause I will give you a ticket" Hands me back my papers and off I go.

Did a State Trooper pull you over, or a city/county cop? City cops feel they have something to prove seems like. I have been pulled over by NJSP 1 time in the past, they are pretty forgiving, unless you were doing something really silly (sounds like you weren't, as most 40mph zones move around 50-60mph). Troopers have been pulling trucks over because these "newer" truck drivers think they are driving sportscars, unfortunatly most of them learn their lesson the hard way, by means of jack-knife or a firery crash.
