So What's The BEST Drive?

G's are great cars to drive in cities and especially highways, so my question is what's the best drive in the bay area? I've driven 'Calaveras' and 'Hecker Pass'. They're great. Sometimes a GEO Metro gets into the mix and wants to battle it out, but even without a Geo Metro trying to start a fight on a dangerous road, what's the best ride you've been on and have to recommend?

Be serious now, no juvenile comments, no cussing, no dissing, no smart comments. I'm looking for a good stretch of road...(cops are ok too) What's yours?

It depends on what you consider a good drive... Highway 1, or Highway 35 Skyline would be my first two picks.

238

I love a combo of twisties, some climbs and then an open break away. I consider the drive to Reno starting from concord a good drive. But because of the elevation when you're in the mountains... The ears start cottoning up and you can't really enjoy the sounds of the car or anything else around you. Feels like an of body experience. But that's a nice drive though.

+1 on skyline. it goes from hercules through berkely and oakland and its all high up mountains and twisties. ive done a run there with my m3 cuhzins lol. 5 m3's a mini and me. CRAZY fun and VERY little cops. but out of everywhere ive gone, half moon bay has some highway i forgot what its called but its SOOOOO SMOOOTHHHH and twisty filled. its the best. i recommend those two. 238 is cool but its short.. and too much traffic, u cant really unleesh ur car unless u go in the middle of the night when its pitch black with nothing around u but trees in the forest and a river at ur side, btw, 238 is known to be haunted. its a big rumor going around where i live (fremont) for the past 10 years or so.

A trick that works for me is to chew gum when driving in high elevation.

Google Maps always works for me when I need to explore new routs.

Edit:The thumbs down @ the top was an accident...

Thanks for tip. I tried that too on way back but ears still bubbling and poppin. I could still hear but it's like the rushing sound in a plane. Shame tho.

2-3 sticks of soft gum, I use trident.

Redwood Road is a little stretch you should check out. Cuts through CV and Oakland.
