Tito's SNOW ADVENTURE. FTL

Current setup..

Potenza Re040's w/ about 25k on them.

My adventure:

Work: Tacoma
Home: Olympia

Drove out to work w/ no problem.. Found out no one was working, so went home. Freeways were fine.. got a mile to the house and spun out hit a sidewalk... got traction and hit another sidewalk... got to an intersection, and got stuck... help pushed me out of the street into a gas station... gas station entrances and exits are all uphill... icy uphill... tried to get out of gas station ice bowl... ended up turning vdc off and driving out in reverse... drove a mile home in reverse... i left for work at 8am.. got home at 4:15pm... this morning tried to turn on es350.. battery dead.... G parked outside of the driveway... driveway can fit about 4 cars... i shoveled the driveway yesterday, so the driveway has a fresh 6 inches of snow + ice... Yea.. G barely made it half way up the driveway... i had to put the car in drive and push it myself as far as it can go... i got it about half a car length from the garage... had to push the lexus out next to the G.. jump started it... got to work.... G is stuck in the driveway.... i have to dig it out tonight.... :(

I'm an now looking at WRX wagon or AWD Element

I will post pictures of the G stuck in the driveway... too bad i didnt get any of my whole experience.. i did have my camera, but i was too pissed to try to document it :7:

why do you need a wrx wagon or element? With a good set of snows, you should be able to get around fine in the few days of snow we get a year

I've been looking at them already... This day just made me look at them more.. I'm worried if we have a day like this again, and i had to get my son to the hospital, an AWD vehicle would be best... RWD G Coupe is not so family friendly in an emergency... i'm tellin you, having a kid changes everything:icon43:

BTW.. Kiro was me getting out of the ice bowl in reverse' i caught them for a second when i drove out

IMO, RWD+snow tires>=AWD+A/S tires. The AWD will not be able to stop any better than a RWD with similar tires.

You said "IMO, RWD+snow tires>=AWD+A/S tires".-I disagree, this is very untrue

You are 50% correct

Well, IMO, during snowy weather, braking performance>>>accelerating performance. Being able to stop prevents accidents more than being able to get moving. So since RWD w/ snow tires have better braking ability than an awd with a/s tires, then I'm still going to go with the car with snow tires.

Either way, even with snow tires on, I left the car in the garage today. Instead, I hiked about 1.5miles each way to a local park with a decent hill. Built a baby kicker and hit that for awhile. Brought some portable speakers that I plugged into the iPod, so I had some beats too :)

Absolutely, I am a strong believer in winter tires . Read my post, I agree with that statement about braking, I just said you were wrong about accelerating.
I am on my second G35X and I always run dedicated winters.
Hopefully it will be law in all of Canada like it is in Quebec to have winter tires.

No real reason to get AWD for a few days of snow Tito. Especially when you have the FWD Altima?

How many times have we discussed having dedicated snows with RWD? It's a necessity. Hit craigslist NOW.

$400 for wheels and tires is steal. I paid $300 just for my blizzaks last year. It's even right in your area.

Boarding at a "local park" instead of a real hill is like rockin' rotas instead of volk/iForged/HRE etc. . .
;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Very good find. Tito, I hope you picked those up. That's a steal. Hell, I'd prob rather have those than the oem 18's I picked up. Those would make good beater track/autox/drag wheels too.

it is a good find.. unfortunatly i got chains instead' I cant justify buying winters when i still need regular rollers... I will get winters probably next year

Why not? $400 is a steal. It's a square setup and will also fit on your Altima, and even your Lexus.
