door locks

Hi all,
got probs with my passenger side door lock, I have to lock it manually
from inside. Think it may be a faulty actuator.
Does the actuator off a 350z fit our cars? Has anyone fitted one, is it easy?
Do you need to have the window in the down position so it ca't drop and does the window just lift out when the inner door panel has been removed?
Got quotes ranging from £80 to £150 for a second hand actuator
I am ok with the door panel removal stuff (did it on drivers side last week, faulty window motor) its the stuff after that I need help with.
Anyone fancy guiding me through this please
On the window motor thing, I followed the guide from one of our American friends, took the top off the motor cleaned it up good and proper and it works a treat
cheers

Hi Firebee,
Have had the same problem with both my door actuators since I brought the car 2 years ago,I got quoted loads of money to get them fixed,so I have just got used to manually locking and unlocking the doors, can be a real pain !!!
Andy (airsoft andy ) had the same problem and I think he managed to get his fixed ,and did it himself, its a job to far for me though .
If you search back through the threads you will find the topic,or PM andy ,I am sure he will be able to help.
Let me know how you get on as I really do want to get mine fixed, quite happy to pay to get the job done, but not for loads of money.

Hi Rob,
thanks for reply, I have had quotes ranging from £184 - £80 for a second hand one of a 350z If these are off a 2003 car the chances are they ain't gonna last long.
Had a quote this morning from japan for the genuine part new and it works out at £78 plus shipping which is about £30. I may go for this and tag a window motor on to make the shipping worth while. Total cost for one lock actuator and one window motor is £275 inc shipping.
Could have a holiday for that money
cheers

Unhappy

Thanks for the posts wicked !!!
Have Just read all the threads, the cheap fix looks to be just a cheap fix and not with out a few problems, but the custom infinity g35 solution looks a better route, does any one know "a man who can " fit these over here in the UK if i go and order the parts ????

yeh, had the panel off, didn't go the whole hog and take the window out though. Don't want to do that until I have the replacement part. Can the window be lifted out from the down position ok ?

To remove the door glass...

Remove door trim panel - nach
Remove door speaker
raise the window just enough to access the window retaining bolts through the large round hole in the door frame and remove the bolts
Remove glass by pulling it up and out
Refit by doing the reverse
